CAYA CAYA is an eco-lifestyle brand dedicated to promoting hand-made,natural and sustainable clothing and We are particularly proud of this collection!

CAYA is an eco-lifestyle brand dedicated to promoting hand-made, natural and sustainable clothing and home furnishings. It aims to showcase heritage Indian weaves with a contemporary twist, on a global platform. CAYA, pronounced as 'ka-yah' is a Sanskrit term that signifies the vital heat/fire which runs through our entire system - body and soul. For me, it represents growth, change, passion, wis

dom and skill that all go into the making of the enlightened mind (Buddha). Born and raised in the heart of India, with its glorious traditions and colorful festivities, I am inspired by its magnificent art and craft legacy. With CAYA, I hope to showcase the work of artisans from the interiors of India and provide you exciting and unique options to create your own ensemble. Our first collection celebrates Pashmina - also known as Cashmere from the northern state of Kashmir. This natural, soulful fibre is hand-woven into fine shawls by skilled artisans who’ve specialized in this art for decades. Every time someone wears a Pashmina, this tradition becomes even more timeless! The second is ‘The Silk Route’ collection with a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity. Versatile and classy, these hand-made pieces can be worn year-round and paired with Indian, Western and fusion wear. It is sourced from a social enterprise in India, that’s dedicated to ethical production of environmentally friendly, quality work with fair wages for their artisans. The emphasis is on hand stitching (kantha) and hand block prints. These skilled artisans (mainly women) use sustainable materials and traditional methods to make our garments. Our design team helps the artisans adapt the colors and patterns to make them more contemporary. This results in unique and classic designs that has a modern appeal and also helps traditional artisans sustain their craft. The ‘Cool Cottons’ collection from Northern part of India includes hand-block prints and hand-woven thread embroidery on pure cottons and linens. What is the thread that runs across the CAYA brand? For one, its products that are all about style and substance - high quality, natural fibers made in classic and unique designs and long-lasting home-ware. Equally important are the people who make our products and making a positive difference in their lives. Last but not the least, our happy and loyal customers. We want to ‘fashion’ a better world for everyone involved. This has been our story so far. We’d love you to be a part of it and help stitch a brighter future for our artisans..

While we don’t normally put up many discounts and sales as all the returns go directly to our artisans, this year has been different! With most workshops in India closed or understaffed till a couple months back, and production starting to slowly pick up, we are coming out of hibernation and starting to plan for 2021 (still can’t believe it!). We plan to put up a clearance sale across all our collections- silk, cottons, pashmina and footwear.
So if you ever had your eyes on any of our products, this is the best time to buy it!
Due to limited sizes the sale will be online and from a catalogue of our available products and please reach out to me for sizes and/or colour options.
Happy Diwali!

And finally it is done.

And finally the labour of love is ready and framed. Delighted with the result and the children are excited to have it in their room.

Thanks to the lockdown in India in April, I took up a cross-stich project after years. The fabric was redeemed from an old stash belonging to my mum and washed to give it a new life. I used the threads my mum has saved over the years from here multiple embroidery projects. She was stingy and wouldn’t let me waste even a single line of her treasured Anchor threads! Working on it brought back memories of needlework lessons spent chatting away right under the nose of the SUPW ‘Sister’. (I studied in a strict Convent school).
Would love to know what activity makes you feel nostalgic. For me it’s cross stitch and knitting.
