“What actually is techno?”
Born in mid-1980s Detroit, techno was created by three high-school friends - Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson - known as The Belleville Three.
They fused the electronic synth-pop of Kraftwerk with the funk and soul of Motown and the raw energy of Chicago house. The result was a new sound that captured the post-industrial feel of their city.
From Juan Atkins’ early Model 500 tracks like “No UFO’s” - often called the first true techno record - to Joey Beltram’s harder, darker “Energy Flash” in 1990, techno quickly evolved from melodic machine rhythms into the gritty warehouse sound we know today.
This is how a local Detroit sound became a global movement.
techno诞生于1980年代中期的底特律,由三位高中好友——Juan Atkins、Derrick May和Kevin Saunderson(人称The Belleville Three)创造。
