Hey hey 🌟 For the new year, we thought to bring back some these educational kind of post for 2022!

We thought to share some thoughts on phrases that should end! People should stop saying:

1. "Never mind"
This can make someone feel embarrassed for not being able to capture what you said the first time. Always repeat yourself.

2.“You don’t look deaf”
Most backhanded compliment ever. It’s actually very offensive thing to say. Being deaf doesn’t have a specific look. It is an invisible disability

3.“But... you can speak?”
In the deaf and hard of hearing community, there is a wide spectrum of people who choose to communicate in speech, sign language, or both. We are all very different and unique in our own way. Please don’t question our identity.

Don't forget to embrace yourself and never feel ashamed for being deaf or hard of hearing.

I used to be really shy about revealing my hearing aids and CI but after a while I stopped caring what other people think. Embrace your hearing aids / or CI 🥰

We are worthy and our experiences are valid ❤️🤟

Many people has told me that they are sorry that I am deaf as they think I can't achieve anything in life, if I am deaf. So, I wanted to create something that will remind people and OURSELVES that we can do anything we want to pursue. Our deafness doesn't get in the way of our goals and dreams.

As for the back of the t-shirt, as a long-time commuter to Toronto for school and work, I had many incidents where people assumed I was being rude when in reality I couldn't hear them from behind me, so I thought to create a awesome design at the back to inform others that we can't hear.
