I learned how to read patterns, change needles and work with different fabrics. I sewed a lot when my children were small, I made quilts for presents at Christmas. I made Halloween costumes for the kids, I made clothes for the kids, I fixed hems and ripped sleeves. I started designing names after seeing them for sale in a mall and deciding that I could do better. The names were made out of felt, m
ade for hanging on a wall, perfect for a babys room or a childs. I designed baby quilts and pillows. I recycled clothing into pillow covers, made hackey sacks for the boys. I made sheets and pillowcases for her grandsons first bed when sheets were not available at the store. I moved to Roatan in 2004 from Ontario, Canada to work as a dive master. I started working as a glass bottom boat tour guide with McTours after I had an accident and could no longer dive full time. I started sewing in Roatan in 2007 after I was brought my sewing machine from home. I started fixing things for neighbors for a minimal fee and then was first approached by Gaye at Coconut tree Divers about fixing a wetsuit. Since then other dive shops have learned by word of mouth about my skills as a seamstress for fixing wetsuit zippers and sewing patches on worn areas. I currently sew for 5 diveshops in Roatan, 4 in West End ( Coconut Tree Divers, Reef Glider Divers, West End Divers, Sun Divers) 1 in Sandy Bay (Octopus Dive School), divers from the shops also needed things fixed, altered or created. I have designed seat cushions for Sanctuary, Sunset Villas and Casa Calico rental properties. Word of mouth has been my only means of advertising until now.
