For decades, EPS insulation and plastic bubble wrap were the cheapest way to protect temperature-sensitive shipments.
But across Europe, that equation is starting to change.
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes are expanding, reporting requirements are increasing, and fees for difficult-to-recycle packaging materials are rising. Materials such as EPS insulation and plastic bubble wrap, which are rarely recycled in practice, are increasingly under scrutiny from regulators and waste systems.
At Fandaro we have been preparing for this shift by developing insulation systems made from recycled natural fibres and developed a fully home compostable solution. The aim is simple: maintain reliable temperature performance while reducing dependence on hard-to-recycle plastic insulation.
