Dear Bracers!

🎁 I still can't quite believe that this day has come: Vili turns 4 tomorrow! What makes this day even more special is that it will be his last day wearing the boots&bar!

😉 All these feelings are so overwhelming for us right now...and my writing is just not good enough to put them into words.

4 years for 1 little being, such a long time! But when looking back it feels like it was just yesterday. I'm so happy and grateful: Many thanks to dr. Miklós Szabó, the Hungarian clubfoot parent support group and Krisztina Német-Timár, Edina Öri physiotherapist, our pediatrician dr Márta Pálffy, Szilvia Pásztor, Petra Kuthi-Nagy and my family (especially my husband Viktor Szabo) and to all of you who are members of this little facebook group for being with us all this time!

Of course our story is far from over, but we believe it will be easier from now on!

Our goal remains to keep on helping you - our fellow clubfoot parents - throughout this challenging journey we are on.

Wishing everyone beautiful little feet and hang in there! Nothing is impossible!

👣 WORLD CLUBFOOT DAY 👣

Another year passed and for us this could mean that we reach the end of the b&b period, hopefully this turns out to be the case by the end of the year!

I still remember what I was feeling when I was told that Vili will be born with clubfoot. I clearly recall the castings, the constant worry before the achillotomy and also being afraid that he will refuse putting on the boots just out of the blue.

For us luckily everything went smooth (knock on wood) and I feel really grateful for that.
However there are others whose clubfoot path is more bumpy than ours, or they have something else that makes their lives more difficult. Either way, Bracers was created to make some of these difficult moments (or years) a little bit easier.

I really hope that the ones who are still with us feel the same way and you will stay here to share your thoughts and experience with other parents who will join in the future, but also to provide us with guidance on how you believe we can best help you.

👣 DONGALÁBAS VILÁGNAP 👣

Megint eltelt egy év, ami számunkra már talán azt jelenti, hogy hamarosan a síncipős időszak végéhez érünk. Legalábbis bízunk benne, hogy az év végéig elérjük ezt az áhított célt!
Emlékszem mit éreztem mikor megtudtuk, hogy Vili dongalábbal érkezik majd meg a családunkba és pontosan jól emlékszem a gipszelésekre, az achilotómiát megelőző szorongásra és a folyamatos aggodalomra, amit a síncipő hordása hozott az életünkbe (vajon mikor jön el a pillanat, amikor nem lesz hajlandó felvenni a kiscipőket?).
A mi esetünkben mondhatom, hogy minden simán ment eddig (le is kopogom gyorsan!), ezért nagyon szerencsésnek mondhatom magunkat.
Vannak azonban, akik nehezebb utat járnak be mint mi, vagy a dongalábon kívül más miatt vannak nehéz élethelyzetben. Akárhogy is legyen, a Bracers azért jött létre, hogy ezeket a nehéz pillanatokat, vagy sokszor éveket kicsit megkönnyítsük.
Szívből remélem, hogy ti akik itt vagytok érzitek ezt a szándékot és velünk maradtok, hogy a később csatlakozókkal megoszthassátok a gondolataitokat, tapasztalataitokat és reményeink szerint útmutatást adhassatok számunkra is, hogy mi az az irány amit követnünk kell hogy a számotokra legmegfelelőbb segítséget tudjuk nyújtani.

Kedves Bracersesek!

Sokan, akik tagjai vagytok a Dongaláb...., azaz azok a csodás lábikók..🙂 szülői támogató csoportnak már biztosan hallottatok róla, hogy a csoport alapítójának, Németh-Tímár Krisztina -nak köszönhetően megjelenési lehetőséget kapott a dongalábas közösség.
Természetesen többek között mi is felajánlottuk segítségünket Krisztának, hiszen egy ilyen rendezvényre a felkészülés nem kis feladat.
Végül az a döntés született, hogy az idő rövidsége miatt idén személyesen, standdal nem képviseli magát a csoport, viszont szórólap formájában - ha minden igaz - jelen leszünk mi is.
Hatalmas megtiszteltetés ez számunkra és ezúton is köszönjük Krisztának a lehetőséget! Reméljük, hogy jövőre már személyesen is részt tudunk venni a rendezvényen, hogy ezáltal is elősegítsük azt a törekvést, hogy minden érintetthez eljussanak a megfelelő információk a dongalábbal kapcsolatban.

Dear Bracers!

Thanks to Németh-Tímár Krisztina the founder of the Hungarian clubfoot support group Dongaláb...., azaz azok a csodás lábikók..🙂 the clubfoot community is getting some publicity at a special event.
We offered our help to Kriszta as preparation for such an occasion takes a lot of time and effort.
However due to the short notice, the group will not be represented live this time, instead there will be flyers distributed for the group and if everything goes well for Bracers as well.
We are grateful to Kriszta for this opportunity and we hope that next year we can be there in person to help spread the word and share the knowledge about clubfoot.

Dear Bracers!

This is another recurring topic: How to choose the right bed for your clubfoot baby?
During the casting period Vili was always in his crib, in a baby pod which turned out to be perfect for us. However once he started moving and turning around his boots got stuck on the sides of the baby pod, so we had to get rid of it.
That's when we started using crib lines, but the regular basic liner didn't work out at all, so we tried using pillows along the sides of the crib.
Soon however the crib will be too small for him so we have to make a change, but I don't know what the best option would be.
We were thinking of just putting a foam mattress on the ground because it wouldn't be so high and he wouldn't fall too big.
Another option is using a bed rail, but I'm not convinced he wouldn't climb over it and fall down and also his boots could get stuck, it would make noises if he hits it and he would wake up because of the sounds.
