For this edition of Field Notes & Works, we headed to the foot of Mount Patuha in Desa Sugihmukti, where every step through the conservation forest became an exercise in paying attention. Birdwatching isn’t about finding everything, it’s about listening, waiting, and appreciating the moments nature chooses to reveal.

We were lucky to spot Srigunting, Sempur, Ciu Kunyit, and even the rare sight of Elang Hitam and Elang Jawa soaring overhead. A reminder that protecting forests means protecting everything that depends on them.
It was one of the perfect days to connect with nature. Sometimes all you need is your bare eyes, a pair of binoculars, and a little patience.
