As many of you who have been following us for some time know, we launched about a year ago, together with two beautiful friends who also deeply love horses, a sister brand called devoted to bring our skillful craftsmanship to the equestrian world.

One of the projects we have been working in lately is the production of bespoke pieces for using the traditional Sumba ikat, working in partnership, as we always do, with small groups of women weavers.

In the picture you can admire one of our latest pieces, a beautiful hand woven saddle mat, which is now flying to the US.

Working now on some new equestrian products to add to the collection of halters, belt bags and saddle mats.

Honoring Kmana’s tradition, named after a daring wanderer, this time Freya Stark.

She once wrote “A part of all art is to make silence speak. The things left out in painting, the note withheld in music, the void in architecture – all are as necessary and as active as the utterance itself.”

Like her, we cherish silence. When we designed and crafted these halters, we let silence speak.

Today, back home, is one of my favorite days of the year. Sant Jordi. It was also my mum’s favorite day. Every year, without fail, she would walk into the same bookstore and listen to the owner’s now grown up son’s recommendations for books. She would buy three books and only write a dedication on the first pages once we opened them. My dad’s duty was to get the roses. Three roses. He still buys them, even though I live far away.

Nostalgia... such a delicate but powerful feeling.. that twinge in the heart, often more poignant that the memory alone. I learned it is a Greek word, and it literally means “the pain from an old wound”... what remains under the surface of the scar... hidden... Today I wish I could see flowers and books everywhere, just like back home.

Happy Saint Jordi to all my beautiful friends back home. I cannot send you books or flowers but wanted to share with you a beautiful picture of the hands of the weavers we partner with creating beauty.
