We often believe that we buy handwoven cloth, we are supporting tradition, culture, and landscape. And sometimes, we are.
But not always.
Today, many weavers work within systems that shape what they can access: From yarn, to dyes, to markets.
The skill remains the same, as does the knowledge. But the material is forces to change and with it, how the work is valued goes down.
This is not a story about the weaver. It is a story about the systems around her.
What do you think we should be paying attention to?
