Now, compare both pictures. Yellow came from orange bundle, only once pre mordanting, pink came from red bundle with twice pre mordanting, and purple came up after iron post mordanting.

Like I said earlier in the previous post, pre and post mordanting process can affect the result. Orange bundle and red bundle prove that pre mordanting influences the color absorbtion. Orange one was only once pre mordanting, the rests were twice. After getting dipped into dye bath, those bundles are dipped into mordant bath. It's called fixation. I chose iron mordant this time. Can you see the color change? This fixative material produces new color, purple.
I'll show you the result in the next post. Stay tuned.

Post mordanting is a process using fixative materials to make sure fabrics' resilience of laundry, friction and sun exposure. This fixative material can produce new colors, different from its original colors.
Some of common fixative materials are alum, calcium and iron, as you can see at the picture. Vinegar and lime juice can also be used for post mordanting process. It's all depends on the dye bath.
Just get surprise of each result at the end. Join me to witness the magic on the next post.

It's time to fold, bind, stitch, twist, cap or even compress the fabrics to get beautiful pattern before being dyed. There are so many technique. Each technique will create unique pattern.
