I remember when I first stepped foot on Phi Phi in Thailand, it was just a few years after the Tsunami on 2004. It was still being rebuilt and was a million miles away from the tourist swamped place it is now. It was still mainly backpackers, those on long term pilgrimage around the world. I’ve to reminisce about those places and I purposely don’t go back as I don’t want to spoil those memories

I started Bosun during years spent moving —
between cities, beach towns, and countries.
Often over land.

The pieces came from that time.
Shaped by places, people, and the quiet alliances formed on the road.

They’re simple, but they carry meaning.
Versatile, but not anonymous.

These pieces still carry the same intent —
they just speak louder.

This is one chapter of Bosun.

What comes next is shaped by everything travel taught me —
that we don’t need much,
just the right things.

The product will become quieter.
Still considered. Still versatile. Still premium.

Different chapters. Same spirit.

This still matters.

I remember travelling through Laos on a wooden slow boat down the Mekhong. Watching the sun going down with a beer Laos, knowing the next day is another 12 hrs floating down the river. And you know what, it was one of the best time of my life. Unhurried, happy, unstressed.
Slow travel is ideal but not always possible due to the demands of life. But when you do slow down, you notice the place more.

Our ‘Alliance of Adventurers’ collection, we wanted to encourage a community to come together to share through word of mouth, their favourite places to go on the travel circuit. When I went travelling you can look at maps and read guide books all day long, but the best places were the ones I heard about whilst having a coffee or on a long bus ride.

Where is your favourite place to return to if you had the time and money to do it?

When I was 21 I quit my job and with £3k I spent a year travelling around the world. It was the best thing I ever did. Only moving on to the next location when I felt like it, completely unhurried by time. Following the sun.

It goes without saying that with only a backpack containing my possessions, I pretty much wore the same clothes all the time. That’s why I created Bosun. Staple clothing that is built to last. Better materials, better construction and an aesthetic that is versatile enough to be worn at the beach or in a bar.

Enhancing Your Journey

Cook is a brand dedicated to creating product to enhance your travel journey. As a brand we encourage mindful travelling, with a view to putting back into the world what we take out, and trying to leave things in a better state than what we found.

We create goods that make you feel good as well as look good, and adapt to your surroundings and activities, whether it's having a coffee next to the Mekhong River, or hiking through the Australian outback rather than putting back it's 'giving back'.
