Announcing the Closure of Whelan Footwear Manufacturers Ltd, supplier of Inishfree Irish Dance Shoes and Mens Drifter Shoes.
We regret announcing that after nearly 40 year manufacturing Irish Dance Shoes, and over 50 years of footwear manfuacturing, we are closing.
We have reached the difficult decision to close the footwear manufacturing business in Cootehill. Issues around increased operational costs and cost of raw materials have brought unprecedented challenges to the industry. These challenges led us to evaluate the viability of the business going forward and as a result take the decision to wind down and close the company.
As a family owned and managed business, spanning 3 generations, this was a difficult decision to make.

We are grateful for the strong relationships we have developed with you, our customer over the years and wish you every continued success with your dancing career and or business in the future. We wish to thank you for your loyalty and support over the long number of years you've supported us.

We thank our wonderfully talented employees (most of whom were with us 30/40/50 years) who created a handcrafted quality product.
Hand made Irish Dance Shoes such as Inishfree are unlikely to be seen again.
