The tale of the three doors. 📖🚪

I wanted to keep the doors from our 1920's cottage we renovated. If you were to ask me again if I'd still do it or just buy new, I'd probably say, just buy new. Why? Because the level of effort to bring these f$ back to life was something else!!!

Paint stripper (it doesn't work, don't buy any of them, waste of time) sanding, scraping, using heat guns etc brought it to the red version you can see in pictures. YouTube lied to me, they weren't good enough and I wasn't repainting them after all that. It was a strong case of...'sure look, I'm in it now...'

I then found a place called .ie and they brought them back to the original wood. Really nice people to deal with. If you have something old that needs to be stripped, just bring it straight there and don't go down a YouTube rabbit hole like I did.

After that, we had to get a local carpenter in Kilcullen to add some length to them because they were all different sizes 😂🙈. And then, after all that, I varnished them and went over them with wax. Ended up being the most expensive doors in Ireland.😂

But....they are my favorite thing in the house because they're so old and taught me bloody good lesson. I do still curse at them every so often when I get a flashback. ❤️🇮🇪😂
