ā€˜THE EMPTY CROSSROADS’

This year Ireland Fashion Week celebrated the theme ā€˜Coming Home’ and it was an honour to introduce our new design at their Damhsa show held at the RDS on World Mental Health Day.

ā€˜The Empty Crossroads’ is my interpretation of the death of dance and music in Ireland during the famine years. Before the ā€˜great hunger’ crossroads were meeting points full of laughter, culture and identity. What followed was silence, death, displacement and forced emigration.

Magee 1866 Donegal tweed references the hessian potato sack and potato skin, its purple, pink and yellow flecks glimmering with hope against the rust weave. Significant as rust itself is corrosion and decay caused by water and moisture, two factors for the catastrophic potato blight. The Iridescent purple/black taffeta used for the inner folds reflects this potato blight beautifully.

Four copper buttons by Sam Lafford of Sam Lafford | Private Jeweller | Dublin references Irish mining and the work many emigrants later travelled to America and Canada to do.

Our collaboration with Hanna Hats | Headwear Manufacturer | Donegal Town, symbolises the suppression of Irish culture by state and religious forces.

Those who stayed safeguarded what was left; those forced to leave ensured our culture was never forgotten. We’ve sown seeds throughout the world. Now it is time to celebrate our culture and create a better future.

STEP INSIDE THE HOWL GENERATION - HAIR STYLINGšŸ–¤

On Friday, 11th September 2026, Dare to Howl had the great honour of launching our new collection, ā€˜The Howl Generation’, alongside the most amazing team of volunteers who believed in our mission. (Swipe for credits)šŸ–¤

We’ve always said that the brand is as much about community as it is about creation, and our night at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum proved just that. With the help of our team and our guest speakers from ShareJoy and JigsawYMH, we showed our audience that there is more to the Irish fashion scene than just commercial gain. It has purpose, meaning and a platform.

In true Dare to Howl fashion, we used that platform to raise awareness of the importance of looking after our mental health something that is vital to ensuring a better future for our generation and those who will succeed us.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped us bring this project to life, especially the Dublin Independent Fashion Week team, who trusted us to launch during what turned out to be a fantastic week celebrating Irish designers and those who work behind the scenes.

We would also like to thank our sponsors: Magee 1866 for their Donegal tweed, William Clark for their beetled linen, and Hanna Hats | Headwear Manufacturer | Donegal Town for their berets. These amazing suppliers did not hesitate when we asked for their support, and we were delighted to showcase what they produce.

Let’s continue to Bespoke the Mind. Wear the Howl. Dare to Howl.

We’ll be posting all week, so keep an eye out, Howlers šŸ–¤

This one is deeply personal to me and to everything Dare to Howl stands for. šŸ–¤

Recently I was approached by Emma for an interview with RSVP Magazine

If I’m honest, interviews are one of the things I find hardest about starting my business. I’ve never wanted my brand to be about me, and over the past year I’ve avoided speaking to almost every journalist who has reached out. As usual, I asked for the questions in advance so I could carefully articulate what I wanted to say.

But I think it’s time to show a little more of the person behind the brand.

Yes, I’m anxious. Yes, I’m terrified of how quickly all of this is happening. But I’m also on a mission to challenge the mindset of those who advocate for change while struggling to accept it when it looks different from themselves.

For too long, people who have been marginalised or labelled as ā€œdifferentā€ have been made to feel weird or abnormal. I’d encourage everyone to ask themselves: what does ā€œnormalā€ actually mean?

To me, normal is being free from the barriers that stop us from becoming who we truly want to be.

Dare to Howl is my safe space to explore that challenge, and I hope it can become a safe space for others too.

We can’t all be robots trapped in a world that gives us no purpose and no happiness.

The poet Robert Frost once wrote:
ā€œTwo roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.ā€

Three years ago, I chose that road. Slowly but surely, it’s leading me towards the future I’ve always hoped for.

I welcome anyone who wants to walk alongside me. Be true to yourself. Be an individual, not a robot. Don’t be afraid.

Life shouldn’t be a competition. It should be about finding peace of mind.

Everything starts with a conversation, and change begins when enough people are willing to have one.

Let’s Bespoke the Mind. Wear the Howl. Dare to Howl.

DARE TO HOWL IS LOOKING TO EXPAND THE TEAM. šŸ–¤

We are a fast-growing independent fashion brand with exciting projects planned.

Are you interested in avant-garde fashion, creative experimentation, and do you like a challenge?

If you are available at least two days per week over the coming months and are based in, or able to travel within, Donegal, this opportunity could be for you.

This role would suit:
• Fashion interns
• Emerging designers
• Individuals with strong sewing or dressmaking skills
• Creatives who can think outside the box

If you have a curious mind and want to gain hands-on experience within a growing fashion brand, we would love to hear from you.

At Dare to Howl, everything starts with a conversation, and we’re excited to see what you could bring to the brand.

If this sounds like something you’d be excited to be part of, please apply via our application form.

.dingle fashion show šŸ–¤

When Fran and Ferg first contacted me in February about being part of their new store, I was genuinely surprised, and incredibly honoured. I never imagined that so soon after graduating, I would be invited to take part in such a special venture.

The store itself is beautifully set in Di**le Harbour, and working with Fran and Feargal has been an absolute pleasure. They are patient, kind, and deeply knowledgeable, with a genuine passion for supporting emerging designers.

I’ve visited Di**le twice in the past six weeks, most recently to attend The Slow Concept’s first fashion show. It was a truly luxurious evening that celebrated sustainable Irish fashion and showcased an inspiring lineup of designers. I would wholeheartedly recommend experiencing it if you ever get the chance.

I’d like to thank & Fran Fogerty for daring to howl at such a special event you are true howlers now. šŸ–¤
