Walking into fast fashion stores and walking out with more doubts than ever…
I spent many years working in these kinds of stores. I was part of that rhythm, that constant cycle of new collections that last just a blink. At the time, I thought it was normal.
But now, after 5 years surrounded by vintage clothing, I can’t unsee it.
I can’t touch a piece and not think: this isn’t well made.
I can’t ignore the synthetic fabrics, the jackets that feel like plastic, the seams that won’t survive a single season.
Then I go back to the showroom…
and I compare.
I compare with pieces from 20, 30, or 40 years ago, made from 100% cotton, real leather, with structures you can feel, that have weight, that were made with intention. Pieces designed to last, not just to rotate.
And it’s not just aesthetics. It’s quality. It’s craftsmanship. It’s respect for the garment.
After seeing both sides, there’s no turning back.
It’s not nostalgia. It’s judgment.
And you… have you noticed this too?
Or are we still buying without looking?
