My mum Teresa is 90 today, hard to believe and still as sharp as ever! For those of you who know her from the past and present will be aware of all she has been through in her life.
Mum left school at a young age to tend the farm with her brother Paddy when her dad became ill . At 17 she headed on the boat to Chicago with her sister Clare, soon to be followed by her two other sisters, they all worked hard and had a ball. Mum returned for her 21st and met my dad at a hunt ball in Co Offaly. They soon married (hilarious story for another day) The rest is history. Mum was only 57 when dad died at the young age of 59 in 1993. Mum kept it all going.
In 2001 Teresa lost her beloved eldest son, my brother Patrick, it has to be the cruelest thing that can happen to a mother).
Mum managed to keep going despite all her loss and to this day is an incredible inspiration to Nigel , Christina, Patrick and I. I think the key to life is to keep busy and keep going, Mum has certainly proved this.
Last night we celebrated with her family and friends - wishing you a lovely day in the Sunshine and here’s to many more birthdays - roll on 100th🎂

is another amazing place we discovered this week on our way to our friends wedding in Dorset. (It really pays off to ask the locals where to visit) such an interesting place to visit in with an amazing art gallery, book shop, .somerset and the devine italian restaurant .somerset all housed in restored farm buildings surrounded by incredible gardens to meander in. If in this part of the country it is well worth a visit.
