A Hand Tailored Suit Beware
My experience with A Hand Tailored Suit has been an absolute disaster, dealing with them has caused me (and is still causing me) significant stress, worry and hassle . I regret ever giving them my custom and would deter anyone from doing business with them. Details below.
Suit not delivered
In August I was left without my wedding suit (and my groomsmen ties) 2 days before my wedding. This was obviously a terrible situation to be put in, but the worse part about it was that the person who I was dealing with in their Dublin office, told me “not to worry”, because it would be here “in plenty of time”. He actually made me feel guilty for emailing and ringing to find out what was happening, that there was nothing to worry about. This was on the seldom occasion where I was able to talk to him (more to come on communication issues),
2 weeks or so leading up to my wedding he said that he was expecting it the “following Monday”, then it was Thursday, then “Saturday by the latest”, then “Tuesday definitely”. And then 2 days before my wedding he said he couldn’t be sure it would be here on time.
Appalling Communication
Along with that, communication with them and A Hand Tailored suit was (and still is) absolutely appalling. Weeks on end with no response to my emails, unable to talk to them by phone (their office number is a phone centre in the UK that’s basically a call centre that were never able to put me through to anyone, so its just a message centre really. Also, the mobile number he eventually gave me after I demanded it was always off so it was useless). Even now, months later they are not responding to my mails or calls.
Refund still not returned 10 weeks later
They agreed to a full refund that 2 days before the wedding. However, after not receiving the refund a month later I began to worry so tried to reach out to him to find out what the status of it was. Again, he wouldn’t respond to my emails or calls.
I eventually got through to them after plaguing them with calls and emails. They assured me that the refund was processed but could take up to 60 working days(!) to come through, and there was nothing he could do because it was now with the bank/card company.
It’s now 10 weeks since the refund was agreed. I still have not received it and I have not been able to get a response from anyone at A Hand Tailored Suit for the last 4 weeks, after numerous emails and several calls. Clearly something has gone wrong with the refund but nobody will talk to me from A Hand Tailored Suit. In my opinion its an absolutely disgusting way to treat a customer that has been so badly treated already.
Bad attitude
As I said, the week leading up to my wedding I couldn’t get through to them, days without any response to my emails or calls and I was really stressed. 2 days before my wedding when they informed me it would more than likely not arrive on time and we should cancel the order, his attitude was not at all what it should it have been considering the stress I was now under after reassuring me for weeks that it would be fine. He was really not apologetic enough and even tried to backtrack telling me that the suit “was always going to be tight to be here on time for the wedding” even though I had handed over my money and done measurements nearly 3 months earlier.
Needless to say, this was not what I needed 2 days before my wedding.
Next steps – dealing with the bank/small claims.
I hope that through this review A Hand Tailored Suit will reach out to me so I can finally get my refund, but I doubt it considering my experience with them.
In the mean time I am dealing with my bank to get all documentation together in the hope that they can get my money back for me through a “chargeback”. After that I will be forced to go to the small claims court. I have let AHTS know all this through emails and calls, but no surprise, still have had no response.
I am not someone who is alarmist or would exaggerate details here (I have in fact left out lots of other details of interactions/issues with them for brevity’s sake), they caused me significant stress before my wedding, I ended up having to buy an alternative suit and had to change my groomsmen combo’s at the last minute, I still have not received my money back, and have never really got the sense that A Hand Tailored Suit really cared (as is apparent from their lack of contact now).
Needless to say, I would strongly recommend not giving A Hand Tailored Suit your business.
