Oh Joy!

I am 6 months into a new role in a full time job. I’ve started to carve out a few hours a week to draw and make for the season ahead.

First up is on the 18th of October. I’ll have a good stash of project bags, zipper pouches, printed linen bundles and lots more. It’s on in the big hall. I’ll be exhibiting along side 40 other talented makers, who spin, dye, sew, carve and so on.

Then from 14th-16th of November you can find me for the first weekend of their annual winter fair. This is such a buzzy weekend and kicks off the festive season for me.
Plus it’s a chance to spend the weekend with my lovely pals and ❤️

Then in December I’ll be at in Dun Laoighre for the best Christmas Pop Up . I’ll be bringing lots of seasonal pieces for the winter fairs, like this illustration above, which is going to become a birch ply serving tray.

I have always struggled with timelines when it comes to my own work, this year I am keeping to a schedule. Having a job that is not mentally taxing outside of work hours has given me the breathing space to make and design without pressure. I have more time for my kids and myself.
Who knew office life could bring me peace!

I have a box of work that I am putting together into bundles today for an insta stories sale. I would love to make room and some capital to finance my new work.

Will start at 1pm today.

Let me know in the comments if you’re exhibiting or planning to attend the above mentioned markets this autumn. 🍂

Imagine if the world laughed at the two village idiots.
One tangerine terror in the white 🏠
And one little HIT ler on stolen land

Oh how their egos would implode….
I’ve just woke up. To the fact that I’ve been giving them too much of my power.
I think I’m just going to laugh at the fat tangerine and the balding little Hit ler
knows how to play the game
articulating my thoughts too

I am on the hunt for a potters wheel. I trained as a potter many years ago. It was an apprenticeship. I still teach ceramics workshops. I sold my wheel about 10 years ago. Funny how things come round again.
Anyway, hope you are all enjoying life.
And free 🇵🇸

And the world keeps turning….
Come find me this Saturday market. Last month’s was really lovely (so I am told, 😀)

Here’s a little round up of the past 5 months since I posted on this mad platform.
Hard to come on here some weeks without crying my eyes out with what’s going on EVERYWHERE

I heard someone say they left their corporate job to per-sue their creative dream.

I’ve done it the other way round.
I’ve joined the civil service in order to keep my creativity alive.

Prob seems like a mad thing to do from the outside, but it was an easy choice. One that came in a flash last summer.

At 52 I want structure and a pension.
And to be able to leave work down come 4pm.

So after 3 months of acclimatising to my new admin role, I’m ready to make things again and do a few pop ups.

Photos are of some goings on since January. Nothing mega exciting and still…

1: Market vibes
2: Nice things
3: Best girls
4: New Trays
5: Dawn Chorus with Oisín at Killiney Hill. Watch the sun rise over the sea
6: City Hall Wedding ceiling view
7: Minecraft cinema experience
8: Birthday punch needle workshop with the beautiful
9: Lovely work from students
10: sock love ♥️
11: Riso paper flowers
12: Notebook flower basket
13: Kids spot mum at airport
14: Glad we stuck around for the 15th year 🥰

life is exciting, being alive and going into it with an open heart is real.

Happy Monday
See you at the Circular, Rialto, Dublin 8.

I have some nice trays and things…
And hugs 🥰

Can’t rennet how to hashtag anymore
Prob a good one to start with..

This is one if mine and Tadhgs(8) fav songs at the moment. We sing it together in the car all the time.

A morning well spent. Colouring with markers with no agenda. Happy Christmas 🎄

Studio Sale!!
I am moving out of my studio in Harold’s cross next week and I have a hell of a lot of things that I’d love to see off to new crafty homes.
Over the years I have collected lots of Indian wood blocks, printing materials and Irish linen.
I’ll be up there tomorrow morning to start documenting what’s on offer. DM me if you want to stop by. I’ll also be putting stuff up on stories.

Today feels like a good day to write about some changes and future plans on my creative journey.

I love making things. That’s what I know for certain.

I’ve been teaching for 24 years, it’s my vocation and I don’t say that lightly. It is something I know, and have known since my childhood days of lining my teddies up and playing teacher in front of our home blackboard. My mum had a Burda pattern catalogue, which I loved to have open and point to with a stick of bamboo from the garden.

Where’s this going? I suppose it’s to say that I no longer wish to operate a product based business.
I wish to spend time making quilts, which I have been quietly doing since last summer when I took lovely online quilt course.

I wish to be involved in community arts, which is in motion. I can talk about that another time when the projects are finalised. It’s very exciting altogether.

I thought to give up my studio, and then I thought better of it. Instead, I will clear it out and keep what I really only need to make nice things with people and for people.

I’ll be taking part in in October and I am very happy to create some truly unique pieces for this show.

This is the journey I’m on and I really don’t know what’s in store, but I’ll tell you this, I feel connected and it’s wonderful.

I’ve been in the studio this week sorting through the remainder of my stock and there is enough for 14 mystery boxes. THIS IS THE LAST OF THEM

I want to thank all of you who supported my business over the last 6 years.

This caterpillar is inching towards her butterfly wings.

Thank you 🙏

And link in bio for those bags of goodies
