As genuine as Maresca's joy was at taking Leicester City straight back to the top flight at the first time of asking, the euphoria created by promotion could not disguise the fact that not everything was well at the club.

Leicester's possible Financial Fair Play (FFP) issues were something he only became aware of after the season had started.

That, coupled with a highly unsatisfactory January transfer window involving two deals in particular, also created conflict at Leicester.

Martin Freeman returns in the exquisitely painful study of a police officer’s breakdown – and it’s a rare second run that’s just as riveting and vital as the first

Two years ago, the former police officer and debut screenwriter Tony Schumacher gave us five of the most riveting and harrowing hours of television there have been for many years. The Responder was the story of Chris Carson (a career-best performance from Martin Freeman), a man slowly being driven to despair by the pressures of his job as a frontline officer answering emergency calls on night shift and the futility of trying to hold back the tide of crime perpetuated mostly by people who are desperate, destitute or mentally ill. “It’s like playing whack-a-mole,” he said. “Except the moles wear trackies. Every night, there’s blood on my boots and spit on my face and it never, ever stops.”

There was a compelling, perfectly worked plot involving a missing bag of drugs and Chris’s corrupt connection with a local drug dealer who was murdered in pursuit of the vanished stash. But the meat of the thing, its genius, was the credible deterioration of Chris and the portrait the series painted of a society at the point of breakdown.

Now, Chris is back in that rarest of things: a second season that feels earned by the quality of what went before and also unforced. The original ended neatly, but credibly, without anyone’s personal stories ending. The new five-part drama feels natural and – given the unspent potential – necessary.

Fashion retailer H&M and university Central Saint Martins have announced the four winners of its H&M Sustainable Fashion and Journalism awards for 2024.

The awards were announced last September to support emerging designers and journalists and to encourage the next generation of fashion leaders to further engage with sustainability and accelerate the shift to circular fashion.

The four winners include BA Fashion Design students Stella Osei, Zsofia Toro, and Pernilla Weinholz, alongside Cody O'Connor from the BA Fashion Communication course.

They were selected from more than 30 applicants and were judged on their alignment with H&M’s values and ongoing inclusion and diversity work and Central Saint Martins’ policies. The panel took in factors such as academic merit, financial need and demonstrable commitment to sustainability and sustainable practices.

Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M and a member of the panel, said in a statement: “The chosen designers shared the same passion for both fashion and sustainability and that is exactly what is needed for the future.

“Creativity will lead the way towards a sustainable fashion future and the selected students excelled in not only fashion but had clear ideas on how to make it durable and long-lasting.”

The winners will share a 16,000-pound grant to support them in finalising their graduate collections and projects. In addition to the prize, H&M is supporting one student with an internship within his design department at H&M Head Office in Stockholm.

AMI to host repeat show in Suzhou, China, after Paris Fashion Week

French fashion house Ami is set to host a repeat show on April 10th in Suzhou, China, following its Fall Winter 24 collections unveiling in Paris. The event coincides with the brand’s latest boutique opening in Suzhou.

Ami founder Alexandre Mattiussi said in a statement: “Ever since our beginnings, China has played a pivotal part in the history and success of Ami. In 2019, AMI hosted its first show abroad in this country, in Shanghai. Through the years, I have always been welcomed with great warmth, and Ami has received unwavering support and an amazing response. Chinese people are very style-savvy, they have a genuine passion for fashion. It was only natural for us to host a repeat show in China, and it is a great joy to share this moment with all our friends, in Suzhou.”

Taking place at Suzhou's Xiangmen Ancient Wall, a city known as the "Chinese Venice" with a rich cultural and artistic heritage, the show will feature key pieces from Ami’s Fall 2024 collection. The collection finds inspiration in the elegance of nighttime Paris, portraying Ami’s wardrobe with depth in patterns, textures, movements, and shapes.

The repeat show in Suzhou serves as an opportunity for Ami to connect with its Chinese audience, bringing them closer to the brand’s culture and activities. Additionally, Ami's new retail store in Suzhou, located in the Gusu District, reflects the city's renowned fan artisanship, incorporating an architectural design resembling a traditional fan. This store, covering 322 square meters, will house the brand’s menswear, womenswear, and accessories, adding to AMI's existing 18 stores across 11 cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu.
