The effortless luxury of linen: this is the home of my range of linens, inspired by the nature of Ireland, the colours of the Caribbean, the sunshine of Australia and the elegance of France.

Sitting in my nightie having Saturday morning breakfast outside in May, soy milk foam on my lip,, plump almondy financiers with oozing blueberries and sunset explosive papayas sharpened with lime, pinch me, is this Ireland? Whatever, wherever, the promise of some beach sand squishing and toe dipping later on is almost too good to be true. A nod to the neighbours as we all look at the blue skies and then back to our books. Mine is the Gardeners World Almanac this morning, all the jobs I should be doing in May instead of just gazing and sipping and listening to the birds 💚

2025 and my word of the year is BRAVE.
Now that January is twirling towards it's finale week, I'm still feeling motivated towards big brave goals of climbing a mountain a month ("Slieve Foye" Louth and "Doan" in the Mournes checked so far) and reading a book each month ("the Whalebone Theatre" and "1984" so far).
Today we're in the aftermath of one big storm and in the flight path of another one.
I'm sitting in a hotel lobby eating a blueberry scone and procrastinating about my second week of trying to complete the Ritchie family photo album for 2024.
Interestingly there is a Viking sitting opposite me drinking tea and telling tales of olde Dublin to some tourists. Maybe Vikings don't like the rain either?
Am I brave enough to bring viking strength to these goals 💪
How is your 2025 going?

S T I R U P S U N D A Y
Today is Stir Up Sunday, celebrated on the last Sunday before Advent.
It has it's roots in Victorian traditions and is associated with the preparation of Christmas pudding.
The name originates from the opening collect in the Book of Common Prayer, which begins with "Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord."
During the Victorian era, families would gather to mix the rich ingredients of the pudding, including dried fruits, spices, and often a splash of alcohol, with each member taking a turn to stir and make a wish.
Additionally, it became customary to hide coins in the pudding, with the belief that finding one would bring good luck or wealth.
Sandwiched between taxiing my daughter to acting lessons and then an Irish dance competition, we stirred up mincemeat, now neatly sitting in jam jars waiting for pastry shells and Christmas appetites.
I used Orange and Pecan recipe, replacing pecans with walnuts as those are our favourites.
Ambitiously, I also soaked the fruit for Christmas cakes and those will be stirred and cooked tomorrow.
As for the plum pudding, that is for my expert Mum's light touch.
Now feeling properly festive... 🌲

It's not fully Autumn, but you can see it coning, so just a hint of burnt orange is enough!
The soft purple pinks with the mixed leaves are a lovely colour combination.
You can change it up by adding leaves to bud vases too and sprinkling pine cones, acorns or other forest treasures along the table.
The bright napkins give it a lift and keep it fresh for September.

The best of times!
Admittedly the kids didn't eat the vegetables for breakfast, I did.
They went for the pain au chocolats despite having an air fryer of tiktok style s'mores not long before midnight.
Have a great Saturday, it's cold here now. My finger is hovering over the central heating switch, have you turned it on yet?

S E P T E M B E R here's my monthly list of things to do and dates to remember.

This is one of the loveliest months of the year. It's a great time to reset and refresh, like a mini new year!

Flowers, fruits and vegetables are plentiful and you can save as much as you can to prepare for the winter.

I'll do a little reel of ideas too, but make sure to save this post for the important dates, or pop them on your calendar now!

I've had a lovely Summer break from social media but am happy to be back and looking forward to chats again!

I researched what food flavours go well with whiskey - popcorn (surprisingly!), cheddar cheese, olives. Bingo, they were all loitering around the house and the sun was shining in the garden.
With lovely views across the sea to the Cooleys and the artichokes in towering bloom, it seemed rude not to have a wall picnic.
Lovely new Irish linen runner with Irish lace motifs available to preorder from my site - DM for details, no obligations. The most beautiful gift for those abroad that are yearning for home, for wedding heirlooms, or simply for you.

Boho chic haven nestled in the Aegean Sea with balmy breezes, clear water and lots to do for teenagers.
It was my first time to go on holiday sonewhere like this, and adapting to teens with differing needs and desires is tricky at the best of times.
Needless to say, we all loved it. In fact, with the messages from home telling me about yellow rain warnings, I had a strong temptation to stay.
Read all about it on my website under Travel.

Inspiration for a Greek breakfast - yoghurt with honey, fresh fruits, iced coffee, mango and cherry juices, filled croissants, spinach filo pastry pie.....
Just add sunshine, playing catch with the kids, terracotta pots, succulent plants, some blue and white linens and a dash of pink flowers.
Outside in the garden preferably.
At the weekend so you can savour the moment.

Ever a month to revel in the inspiration of peak Summer.
I dream of these days, warm sunshine, bees buzzing, friends laughing together, coffee shops with outdoor seats, suntans, bright coloured clothes, walking in soft shoes, chilled drinks, picnic blankets, craft markets, and more....
One of my favourite things to do on a Summer's weekend, is to enjoy breakfast outdoors in my pyjamas and barefeet.
And you?
