🎊🎊After decades of passion, hard work, laughter, and a whole lot of shoes — it’s time for me to hang up my boots and begin a new chapter: retirement.

Top Style Shoes has been more than a business. It’s been a family, a seed that blossomed and born fruit, and a community I will never forget. What started as a small shop with big dreams turned into a place where friendships were made, milestones were celebrated, and soles (and souls) were supported.

To our loyal customers — you are the heart of everything. Your smiles, your stories, and your continued support made every long day worth it. Watching generations walk through our doors — from tiny toddler steps to wedding day heels — has made my job a pleasure rather than a daily grind.

To my incredible team — thank you for your commitment to excellent service and carrying out our values: to make every customer feel valued and provided with shoes tailored to unique needs, sizes and fit!

To the community that embraced us, thank you for your custom, trust, and the memories. I may be retiring, but the spirit of Top Style will always walk beside you while wearing our shoes.

I step into this new phase of life, leaving with happiness, a little bit of bittersweetness but much gratitude. Thanks to all the well wishers, who have helped celebrate our shop and contribution to Dundalk's retail community.

Thanks The Argus for my first appearance in a newspaper...maybe I'll spend my retirement being a poster boy 😁

Louth businessman Phelim Donnelly is putting his best-foot forward as he retires after more than four decades selling shoes to the people of Dundalk and surrounding areas.

As the shutters went down for the final time on Top Style Shoes, Clanbrassil Street, last week the Fermanagh-native reflected on a career which he has thoroughly enjoyed.

"I’ve always worked in shoes from when I left school,” says Phelim who first came to Dundalk to work as manager in Connelly’s shoe shop on the town’s main street.

"It’s been a happy job and a happy shop and I think that’s what people liked when they came in.”
