Matching clothing colours starts with understanding what looks best on you. The key is to identify the colours that flatter your face and skin tone. Stand in natural light and hold different coloured fabrics near your face. Notice which shades make your skin glow, eyes pop, and overall look more vibrant. These are your personal best colours, often influenced by whether you have warm, cool, or neutral undertones.
Once you’ve discovered your best colours, you can build outfits around them using the colour wheel. Start with one of your flattering colours and then choose complementary (opposite), analogous (next to), or monochromatic (same colour, different shades) combinations for a stylishly matched look. For example, if olive green suits you, pair it with analogous tones like beige and mustard for a cohesive look, or with a pop of coral for a bold contrast.
Neutrals such as black, white, grey, and navy work as a versatile base and can be paired with any of your best colours. A helpful trick is the 60-30-10 rule: 60% main colour, 30% secondary, and 10% accent. You'll always look stylish and confident by starting with colours that enhance your natural features and then layering in colour theory.

At Alma & Doris Alterations Studio, we believe sustainability starts with what’s already in your wardrobe. Clothes alterations play a powerful role in reducing fashion waste by extending the life of garments and keeping them out of landfills.

Instead of discarding clothes that no longer fit or have minor damage, we offer expert repair, resizing, and restyling services, giving your favourite pieces a second life. From replacing zippers and hemming trousers to transforming outdated garments into something fresh and flattering, we help reduce the demand for fast fashion and unnecessary production.

We also encourage our customers to make thoughtful choices by investing in quality over quantity and maintaining what they already own. Our on-site processes are designed with care, using durable materials and efficient techniques that minimise waste and maximise value.

Sustainability is not just a trend, it’s a responsibility. And through small, mindful changes like alterations, we can all make a positive impact.

Thank you for choosing to repair, reuse, and rewear.
