When designing adaptive clothing for our Little Trickers, flexibility isn’t just a nice-to-have feature—it’s essential for skin integrity and day-to-day comfort. 🩹🤍

Before the more technical drawings, I spent countless hours testing out ideas on standard vests.
This clip shows one of those early tests where I brought yet another basic baby vest to a dressmaker to test out abdominal/tummy access concepts (and a sneak peek of shoulder and arm access/openings). 🪡

It took two years of refining, testing, and listening to feedback to get from these early concepts to our final garments, but every iteration was so important.

Here’s why versatile abdominal access matters so much:

1️⃣ Multi-Directional Tube Access: Having poppers that allow tubing to exit from the left, right, or centre gives caregivers the ability to rotate entry sites and alternate exit points of tubing daily. This helps prevent skin breakdown, redness, and irritation caused by routing tubing through the exact same spot every single day. 🪄

2️⃣ Fuller Access for Inspections: Opening wider across the belly means quick, easy, gentle checks for skin, wound care, or tube sites, without awkward tugging or restricting movement, as well as exposing skin that doesn’t need to be exposed to the cold. 🤍

3️⃣ Combining Functional Points: Pairing abdominal access with shoulder poppers and nappy snaps creates a seamless dressing experience that minimises disruption for your little one. 💫

Parent feedback on these very early prototypes was so encouraging, and every single lesson learned over the last two years went straight into perfecting our final designs! 🚀

Continuing on with my design journey! 🧵✨

When designing adaptive clothing for our Little Trickers, one size definitely doesn’t fit all. Different medical setups need different access points!

Before drawing up a single tech pack, I wanted to test out the early ideas in my head and see them come to life both visually and practically. Two years ago, I bought a standard babygrow and asked a dressmaker to add simple side slits.

While I’ve made so many changes and refinements to my designs since recording this clip, testing early concepts like this was such an important part of the journey. 💜

Here’s why having multiple access options matters so much:

1️⃣ Quick Side Slits: Perfect for discreetly running tubing through while you’re out and about or on the go, without having to undo any poppers or expose your little one to the cold.

2️⃣ Dual-Sided Flexibility: Having side openings on both sides mean the baby grow works seamlessly, no matter how your child’s equipment is set up. 🤍

3️⃣ Poppers down the Centre, Arms & Legs: Gives you a full lay-flat opening for dressing that is so much easier AND this doubles in functionality to also create flexible exit points so tubes or monitoring wires can be routed out between the poppers wherever you need them to be! 🪄✨

Having both options gives caregivers more flexibility and convenience and our Little Trickers have maximum comfort. 🌈⭐

If you’re navigating medical care with your little one, know that you’re doing an amazing job. ❤️

Throwing it back to 2024 when my vision for Little Trickers was just starting to take shape! 🧵✨

As a nurse and a mum, I look at clothing through a completely different lens. I don’t just see fabric…I see medical accessibility, skin integrity, and the daily realities of caregiving.

Before drawing up a single tech pack, I analysed exactly what wasn’t working with the adaptive options already on the market. I recorded this clip back then to show my technical production team the exact flaws I was going to fix in my own designs:

❌ Stark & Sterile: Plain, boring white with zero colour or joy-looking more clinical than actual kidswear.
❌ Bulky & Obvious: A highly visible chest panel that completely compromises discretion.
❌ Rough Closures: Stiff, scratchy velcro that easily irritates sensitive skin. Velcro is also noisy, loses its stickiness, and traps other fibres in the washing machine.
❌ Restrictive Openings: A tiny opening that makes clinical tube management or skin/wound inspections an absolute nightmare.

I knew our kids deserved better. Adaptive clothing shouldn’t just be functional…it needs to be comfortable and full of fun and joy-the way children’s clothing should be! ⭐️🌈

This is just the first look into my design journey! Hit follow and stay tuned as I break down more of what’s currently on the market, give you a peek at my own designs, and show you the exact real-world problems I set out to solve. 👇

📚 Bringing Magic to Special Children! ✨

I am so incredibly proud and excited to share this beautiful book with you all: “Daddy’s Birthday Surprise!” written, illustrated and created by the amazing and wonderful Fiona Breheny and Saoirse Gill! 💕

This book gently invites conversation around additional needs, inclusion, helping each other, kindness and family life. 🥰

As a nurse, I have used this book both personally and professionally to help show children that while we all move, talk, eat and communicate in our own unique ways, that is exactly what makes us special.
“Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together make this world a beautiful garden.” 🌸✨

Saoirse and Fiona have generously gifted me some copies of this book to share with the children of Ireland. I want to personally visit and donate these books to where they are needed most!

👇 Can you help me spread the word?
If you work in any way with incredible children who would love and benefit from this book, please send me a DM! 💌

Please SHARE this post & tag who you think it would benefit so we can reach as many amazing children and organisations as possible!

I just love the name & I think it’s perfect for the brand and the community. ✨

I never wanted it to feel clinical and parents felt the same. 🏥
They didn’t want their baby’s clothes to feel medical. 🩺🚑🧵👶🏼

They wanted fun, happy clothes they’d be proud to put on their children. 🌈👕☀️

So, I thought back to my own childhood… 💭👧

When I was a little girl, if I did something clever or maybe a bit cheeky, my dad would smile and say, ‘you’re a little tricker!’ 😉👴🏼

It was his way of saying: ‘I see you. I’m proud. You’re brilliant.’ ❤️

Now, he says the same to my own children, so it just felt right. 🫶🏼✨

Little Trickers is more than just clothing.
It’s personal, it’s practical and it’s powerful!

We’re not just building a brand, we’re building a community.

I know what it’s like to feel isolated or alone when caring for a child with additional, physical or medical needs.

That’s why I want to create a space where families can connect, share, find support and feel understood.

So if this speaks to you, or to someone you know, come follow along!
We’re on Instagram, Facebook, the ‘other app’ , LinkedIn, you name it!
Wherever we can be to build this community and support each other.

Because this is just the beginning.

Little Trickers…Helping every child shine, even on their hardest days. ⭐️🌟💫

✨ Our mission is simple: clothing that lets every child shine. 🌟

The star symbol in our branding represents reaching for the stars 🌠 because every child deserves to feel special. 🥰

I bring the empathy of a parent 👩‍👧‍👦 and the clinical insight of a nurse 🩺 into every design. 🧵👕🎨

My goal is to make life that little bit easier for families. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Less stress 🧘‍♀️
Less hassle ✅
And more moments that actually matter. 🫶🏻🥹

I wanted to create something different 💫
Clothing that’s soft ☁️ functional 🛠️ and easy to use. 🙌
But also bright 🌈 joyful 🎈 and full of life. ☀️
Clothing that works with a child’s needs, not against them. 🧸

I’ve been working behind the scenes for the past two years… ⏳📆
Designing ✏️
Testing 🧪
Refining ✂️
Developing 👩‍💻🧵
Sample after sample 📦👕
Over and over again 🔄
To get everything just right. ✨

And while I’m not ready to share my designs and everything just yet… 🤫💭
I am ready to bring you along on the journey! 🚀📸

Right now, what’s available just isn’t enough! ⚠️

Standard baby and kids clothing ignore medical needs. 🚫

Adaptive clothing is often white ⚪️ grey ◻️ or clinical looking 🏥 and most only solve one specific problem.

But children don’t just face one challenge, and their clothing shouldn’t either. 👶🏼👧🧒❤️💪🏻

That’s why we needed something new, something that truly works in real life. 💡🌈👕✨

28/04/2026

The children I design for face huge challenges…
But they’re also brave, clever & full of light! 💫

Little Trickers celebrates that spark ✨

No child should be defined by their medical needs…
But celebrated for who they are! 🎉

25/04/2026

This is more than a business.
This is my story.

The why behind everything I’ve built.

What started as a challenge became a purpose.
What once felt overwhelming is becoming something that will help others.

And this is only the beginning 💫
