Betty Denning (nee Fitzgerald), Ennevarogue, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, died on the 18th December, 2024, peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a short illness at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by her parents Tilly and Noel.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband Kevin, all the Fitzgerald and Denning families, neighbours and friends.

It's great to see Patrick, Yvonne, Barry and Daniel representing Virginia and surrounding area so well.

A selection of award winning trays of freshly baked Bread by Exhibitors who Qualified at various Agricultural Shows throughout Ireland during the summer months & travelled long journeys to compete in the All-Ireland Bread Baking Championship Sponsored by McMahons SuperValu at Castleblaney Show 2023. Each exhibitor baked 3 items (a) Banana Bread (b) Tea Brack (c) 4 Plain Scones.

🥈 Exciting News! 🥈 I am thrilled to share that I was awarded the Runner-Up position in the National Final of the SuperValu Ireland Bread Baking Championship held at the Castleblaney Show last week! 🍞🍰 https://www.facebook.com/castleblayney.show

Sponsored by McMahons SuperValu Castleblayney, this championship brought together talented bakers from all corners of Ireland to showcase their home baking skills. The competition was fierce as we were tasked with baking three delicious items:

Tea Brack 🍞
Banana Bread 🍌🍰
Plain Scones ☕

These creations were displayed on a 24"x24" base, and our entries were judged based on the key criteria of texture, taste, and presentation. It was a true test of our baking ability, and I'm beyond grateful for this wonderful recognition. 🥇

It's incredible to think that I was one of the 16 finalists who earned their spot through various shows over the summer, all competing for a place in the top 6 at the National Final. The competition was fierce, and I'm humbled to have been among such talented bakers.

The icing on the cake (pun intended) was the presence of Minister Heather Humphreys from the Department of Rural & Community Development, who presented the awards. 🎉

A massive shoutout to everyone who loves the art of home baking and continues to inspire me to create delicious treats. This experience has been a true testament to the power of dedication, passion, and the joy of creating something from the heart. Here's to all the fellow bakers out there! 🍰🎂✨
