The end of an era.
I regret to say, after 14 years, that Wednesday October 2nd will be my last day as owner of Threads. It is not a decision I took lightly as I have enjoyed my time here and made a lot of friends along the way. From the very start ,I was made feel very welcome and I was blessed to have wonderful staff and customers.I always try to have a laugh whenever possible and the working atmosphere was always light hearted and I looked forward to going to work everyday. When I opened this shop in 2006,I was the only one in town doing alterations.Today there are eight and six of them were employed at Threads at some stage.I made some bad decisions such as moving to Anne street and opening a shop in Gorey where I made a poor choice with staff.Without going into too much detail, these moves ultimately resulted in huge losses that are unmanageable and so I have made a tough decision to remove myself from Threads.I didnt want things to end this way but I had no control over the situation.During my time,we have altered hundreds of Wedding dresses, bridesmaids and graduation outfits and did such a huge range of alterations that everyday seemed different.I want to thank all my staff past and present,my landlords who always supported me ,friends and neighbours and most importantly my wonderful customers .With my blessing, the shop will continue to be run as an alterations shop by a member of my staff along with her friends under a different name.Hopefully you will all continue to support them.I would finally like to thank family and friends for their unbelievable support through some very dark times and I look forward to a new chapter in my life.
