The one and only Aishwarya Rai marks 25th anniversary as Miss World today! Exactly 25 years ago on November 19, 1994, was crowned Miss World 1994 in Sun City, South Africa. An architecture student at the time, she beat out 86 other beauties from all over the globe to win the crown. She also won the Miss Photogenic title at the pageant. Miss South Africa Basetsana Makgalemele won the 1st runner-up prize and Miss Venezuela Irene Ferreira was 2nd runner-up. Aishwarya rocketed into the international limelight afterwards and her career as an actress took off right after her reign. She has become a top Bollywood actress, the brand ambassadors for L'Oreal and Longines and a regular and feted presence at the Cannes Film Festival. Many see her as the most successful Miss World ever. With those magnetic eyes and shiny hair, her face is instantly recognisable, and it’s not surprising that she’s often called one of the most beautiful women in the world! One more month to Miss World 2019!

The 69th edition of the pageant will be held on December 14, at ExCel London, where more than 109 contestants will vie for the blue-turquoise crown.
