Mortantra Mumbai was a small dream in our hearts. The dream grew itself and made its own space, beautiful so grand and to become Mortantra Culture House right in the center of the dream city ❤️
There is so much more that is yet to be spoken about this space. It welcomes you with a 200 kg raw brass door to honour the metal of India - interpretation of Mortantra’s philosophy of making Indian traditional jewellery crafts accessible through the metal of India.
Every piece covered here has its meaning and purpose explained over placards that will make you go in depths of its history and culture. Alta red tuns through our home as the sacred color of India to bring divine femininity as the feeling as you enter the house.
Over the next few weeks, I will explain every piece of art that houses here with its history, significance and craft to bring you closer to the very purpose of our culture House. Keep India stories in circulation by the medium of Indian jewellery.
More than a flagship, the Culture House brings these worlds together through architecture, objects and jewellery, inviting a closer look at the craft and knowledge behind what we wear. The ambition is not to recreate the past, but to keep its beauty and traditions moving forward in a contemporary context. In Mumbai, the Culture House becomes a meeting point between the India Mortantra comes from and the India it is helping shape. It will be a space inclusive of everything art, craft, culture and jewellery from India ❤️
