Fashion, for me, has always been deeply rooted in culture. So when I came across this beautiful ikat dupatta, I simply couldn’t resist investing in one. Yes, investing because pieces like these are timeless, unlike fast fashion that trends for weeks and fades away quickly.

For those who don’t know, ikat is a resist-dyeing weave. The threads are first dyed according to the desired motifs and then woven, creating patterns on the fabric.

I designed an everyday gathered A-line kurta to truly let this weave shine with feather stitch detailing on the front and sleeves, using a shaded thread that moves from red to maroon to black, perfectly mirroring the dupatta’s palette.

And that’s the story behind this outfit, a little ode to craftsmanship and culture!

With this, our series of Tales comes to a close.

This outfit is very close to my heart, it’s my wedding saree.

Whenever I would look at my mom’s wedding picture, I’d always tell her, “I want to look just like you on my wedding day.” And when my wedding finally came around, about three years ago, I knew I wanted her to be a part of that vision in the most special way.

As a Gujarati bride, I was keen on wearing a traditional Panetar —a white saree with a red border and palav. I asked my mom to design the saree herself. She teamed up with Nazakat’s artisans and together, they adorned the saree and blouse with intricate zari embroidery, pouring love into every inch.

To complete the bridal look, I draped a Gharchola saree, a symbolic gesture from my husband’s family as a token of their love.

That moment, in that saree, I truly felt like I was walking into a new chapter, embracing all the love from my new home, while carrying with me the warmth and blessings of the one I came from.

And that’s how this saree became the most treasured piece in my wardrobe. This was my story, what’s yours?

Monsoon was approaching, and I found myself longing for something that mirrored the mood of the season — earthy, grounded, and vibrant!

While fabric hunting, I stumbled upon this Gaji print filled with floral and paisley motifs, dipped in tones that instantly reminded me of gili mitti… I designed this rustic brown gathered skirt and elevated it with hand-embroidered paisleys on the ghera, celebrating the artistry of our Indian karigars.

To complete the look I styled a statement Ajrakh dupatta, jhumkis, jootis, and a stack of chudiyan…

This was my monsoon story through thread and textile, what’s yours?

I was in Jodhpur for a short getaway, wandering through the lanes of the local bazaar. The Blue City had its charm, but what caught my eye was this vibrant, bright yellow chiffon leheriya saree. It was love at first sight & I knew it was coming home with me.

I didn’t want to overdo the look with contrast, so I kept the blouse simple: a cut-sleeve yellow blouse with a U-neck. To complement the sharpness of the leheriya lines, I gave an angular cut to the armhole instead of a rounded one. The Pallu had the most special detail with hand-embellished yellow and white crystal beads. A subtle shimmer that glimmers with movement.

To complete the look, I styled it with stacks of matching bangles and silver jhumkas!

This was the story behind this sunshine drape. What’s yours?
