Fashion, for me, has always been deeply rooted in culture. So when I came across this beautiful ikat dupatta, I simply couldn’t resist investing in one. Yes, investing because pieces like these are timeless, unlike fast fashion that trends for weeks and fades away quickly.
For those who don’t know, ikat is a resist-dyeing weave. The threads are first dyed according to the desired motifs and then woven, creating patterns on the fabric.
I designed an everyday gathered A-line kurta to truly let this weave shine with feather stitch detailing on the front and sleeves, using a shaded thread that moves from red to maroon to black, perfectly mirroring the dupatta’s palette.
And that’s the story behind this outfit, a little ode to craftsmanship and culture!
With this, our series of Tales comes to a close.
