Tara- ABD An Apparel and Home Textile studio based in Ahmedabad under the brand name "TARA". There on started her focus on harnessing local skills as much as possible.

A journey towards elegant, classy timeless designs for those who value hand crafted products. Born out of love for natural fabrics combined with elegant yet simple hand embelishment, Tara was set up by Hirnakshi Harshwal with an aim to design apparels for the women of today who are looking for elegant, classy and original designs. The essence of her designs lies in the simple yet fantastic cuts an

d patterns which are suitable for various occasions.. Hirnakshi always aims to source her fabrics directly from the craftsmen and has extensively travelled to places like Kota, MP, Bhuj and continues to do so regularly. To add an interesting twist to her work, in her search to find good KAARIGARS(crafts people) she found that in a normal Indian scenario, one doesnt need to travel very far to get basic craftsmen like tailors, embroiderers, craft people who do applique, mukesh work etc to mention in a few. All the embelishment and delicate surface treatment seen in her designs are done by highly skilled people who enjoy the fact that they also get to use their creativity in an interesting way apart from earning a living. We at Tara hope that you will enjoy our designs and remain on board for this journey full of exciting explorations and the sheer joy of working with humongous talent that our country has to offer. A humble workshop belonging to the master artisan and his genius skilled team .

As I stepped after a long time in the haven of block printing, I wanted to be there , and watch the gurus finish their work effortlessly . The right placement,the colors , reliving the entire experience was a trip down the memory lane.

An opportunity to be with them and rectifying and relearning my mistakes was an advantage.

I remember my initial years of setting up the block printing collections, I would watch Farukh bhai start his first print without missing a beat and then there would be endless watching while he did his work effortlessly.

It is a world away from the world for me.

The collab that was worth the research and it's salt.

Criss crossing ideas and designs with was some experience, It also gave me an opportunity to redefine my work and find new ways and skills.

Once in a while you get opportunity like these two unlearn and retrieve what you were missing .

Borrowing inspiration from the ' pichwai' collection by to be transferred to textile surface was a journey in itself.

Overall it was road less traveled but will be remembered.

The memories get a new direction to stay longer.

The collection on 'legendary motors of India' block prints find a different material to stay and get justified by none other than the master herself , UK.

When I designed and made block prints for my textile products, based on the cars driven by my family, I wanted to attach more legacy to the whole concept ,
take it more further, and that is when my sister Vallari Harshwal comes forward and takes things in her hands and justifies my favourite work.

The collection of the legendary motors on ceramic receives more meaningful pull and attraction.

These moments when you work aligned with a similar energy , the journey, the process turns into a therapy.

As a confluence begins of two world from different materials the outcome shall leave an aroma of design and balance.

The journey gave me a chance to meet the master from the cluster of a heritage craft Shree Jayanti bhai Chittara and I am privileged that he agreed to support us with his experience and skills.

This opportunity has also given me a chance to unlearn and relearn from the master and improve what I was falling short of.

In what is building up as a collaborative effort,the sleepy tiger baby 'sheru' is gaining momentum.

Bags , yardage and now a collection of soft cotton stoles and a baby dohar too!

An interesting vertical rising here for me where wild life prints are a total new forage for me.

And all this with the help of , an ace wild life photographer,who sleeps , moves and breathes wildlife.

With more to cheer in the future ,here's wishing everyone a very happy new times.

The impressive finals.

As it came to an end the elective at winter school , I am here with lots of memorable good works.

An effort by each one of them ,to come up with final product developments like bags, scarves, yardages, diary covers and many other meaningful products.

The dedication by each one of them can be seen in the finishing of the work , and objects which have surprised and inspired me at the same time.

In a days time, as soon as the elective completes ,I will start missing the days full of intense learning and ideations , working on the developments ,the constant confusions and samplings , coming up with something interesting, sometimes not so interesting, some serious, some non serious works.

Missing them all already from now.!!

But this has been a dream-like opportunity for me.
I am immensely grateful to .

And the students who chose to be here for this 9 day long intense learning on the heritage craft of block printing.
