Indigenous Industries was brought to life by artisans – masters of techniques that are centuries old. The farmer plants a cotton seed in the red soil of south India. The cotton slowly spins on a charkha wheel in Gujarat. The weaver witnesses the fabric come to life with each stroke of his hand, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of the wooden loom. The dyer selects from fruits and flowers to creat

e a shade. The master tailor then deftly stitches the garment. Each piece has been assembled by our artisans with individual care, from their hands to yours. It will stay with you through the years, always holding the artisan’s story within its seams: in the stitches, the feel and the look.

Bilkis, or Malek Bilkis Banu Abdul, 23 years old, has been with us for 1 year. She does trimming, QC, finishing, folding and laughing. Her favorite food is chicken and she she’s also very talented at henna. Swipe right to see one of her designs.

Our organic cotton double muslin fabric has been a big hit with our brand partners in 2018. Part of its success is softness. When working with children-wear, the final hand feel is extremely important. Which is why we take a particular care in making sure all our children products are extra soft!

It’s not every day that we get to work on hand embroidery projects. While they add tremendous value to a garment, not every brand can successfully incorporate the costs in their product design. This is what we do, we find ways to add value at a cost that works for both the craftspeople and the brands.

Meet Mehboob bhai. He is 45 years old and has been tailoring for the past 22 years. Mehboob joined our team two years ago and through his passion for his craft is now the head our sampling tailors.

Kadhi khichdi and masala brinjal are amongst his favourites dishes. But most importantly Mehboob bhai loves a hot cup of tea. Seen here sipping from his favourite cup (carefully brought from home).
