Why is it that at times like these, you always go back to your old memories...
M A Y O
🇲🇺
In the images, the first one is of our main building, the next two are of my house Kan House (Karunawati House). 🏡💚
My fondest or maybe all our fondest memories of our boarding school in Ajmer,
• Hiding our tuck in the watercoolers or digging them underground to keep them hidden! 😂
• Our scheduled-fixed walks before and after meals! 💕
• Tuesday’s chhole bhature with ice cream, Thursday’s conti dinners, Sunday’s maggi breakfast!
• Oh! How can I forget Monday’s Malaria medicine with a cup of hot coffee! ☕️
• The yummy Bun-Oms and Dosas in the canteen and oh our canteen coupons!! 😍
• Bunking Society- trying crazy ways to bunk morning PT or games- I mean hiding inside our cupboards! 🤣
• Morning assembly with The Surdhanu.
• Getting admitted in the infirmary to bunk classes or miss that test! Remember Sister Gladius anyone?
• That horrid throat pain in the infirmary! 🤢
• Sitting on the porch for hours with your closest friends, those endless talks.. passing chits in classes.. ❤️💌
• Everything in life was about friendships, about our friends.
Oh! That reminds me of those yummy fudge cakes for birthdays!! 😍
Well the list is actually endless of my home away from home. The place that I grew up in, the place I was “jailed” in for 9 years! 😜😂❤️

A Guide To Different Fabrics! 🤓
Sharing some tips to make your next fabric shopping trip easier! 🛒🛍
I just love fabrics, and love experimenting with them! Whether it’s creating block prints on them, hand painting or dyeing them or creating ensembles out of them! 😍
I have picked the most common fabrics and given their different properties. The properties are after all, what creates the differences in fall, drape, wearability and your actual ability to make different things out of them.
Remember guys, the fabric can make or break your creation!
Function property here relates to how the fabric interacts with your skin. When choosing a summer fabric, go for cooling ones and when choosing winter fabrics, go for warming ones.
Happy fabric shopping guys! 🤗

Realised that sharing thoughts, activities or creativity becomes more personal when you can put a face to the person talking to you..interacting with you. So here I am! ☺️🌸
Wanted to say a little something in these Covid times to you all. We have all been staying home for weeks now, without being able to meet friends or family, leading to a gloomy vibe on some days.
But never give up on Happiness! 💕
This time has made us realise that the little things that we did not pay much attention to, bring us the greatest joy! Get back more of those little things in your days that bring you happiness.
We never thought a simple morning coffee or a zoom call with family and friends or just playing MonoDeal with your partner would be such an endorphin releaser. 😁
Get In Touch With Yourself Too
The one connection that most of us lost because of the hectic life, was with self. This phase has slowed the pace and given all of us an opportunity to lie back and look at things from a different perspective. Go back to your old pictures, relive those years and connect with your old self. 🥰
Stay safe and stay happy guys! 😊

Botanical Colours at your Fingertips! 🌻🌸
For everyone who thought of natural dye colours as muddy and dull, there are some fantastic hues that make all of our pink and yellow dreams come true! 💝
The Marigolds🌻seen in the image give a light to dark yellow on cotton and linen, and they turn olive green when used with iron!
Hibiscus 🌺 flower gives us a cool pink on linen.
I have tried dyeing with 100% linen which is a cellulose (plant) fibre and takes in all colours well. Wool and silk (protein fibre) accept dyes best, and cotton is good too.
There is something so special about using plants to dye your own fabric. It connects you to the process of designing your own clothes in a way that gives you more respect and curiosity for the materials used and the process itself! 😍😊
Check out which flowers are growing in your balcony/garden and start with any of them as an experiment today! 🧤🤩
Happy dyeing guys! 😊

Sustainable DIY Dyeing Hues! 🌸
A guide to what colours you can get using turmeric, red cabbage leaves, avocado and hibiscus! 🌺🥑
The trick is to use the same ingredient to produce various shades! As you can see in the image here, turmeric has given us two shades- a lemon yellow and a bold turmeric hue. 💛🧡
4 Easy Colours To Start With! Who’s going to try it today? 😊🤩
Will be posting another DIY fabric dyeing tutorial soon for you guys! 🤗

5 Tips on Managing COVID-19 Stress 😇
Ironically, the time when we most need to look after ourselves, is often the time when we are least likely to.
Sometimes things can be overwhelming, even if you’ve been practising self-care. Stay in touch with your loved ones, friends and family, talk to them.
Create a new daily routine that prioritises looking after yourself.
When you get time from your work, read more, Netflix, do your own exercise routine whether it’s yoga or a dance routine, try meditation, learn new skills on the internet, cook a meal, learn a new hobby like painting, dyeing, make your own face masks!
Be a happier, healthier you! 😊🤗 @ Gurgaon

Tucked in the foothills of Himalayas- Japanese Textiles in Dehradun. 🏔
During my research in my hometown, I came across this amazing organic brand through my father, -Ganga Maki Textile Studio in Bhogpur (near Dehradun).
Japanese textile designer Chiaki Maki has laid deep roots of Japanese tradition in India by collaborating with Indian artisans and manufacturing traditional hand-woven Japanese outfits. 🧶
All fabrics are reeled or spun by hand. Apart from tussar, yarns from other natural materials such as mulberry silk, nistari silk, muga silk, eri silk, wool, cashmere, yak, linen, ramie and cotton are woven together into fabrics. 😍🧶
All dyes are mainly from plants in and . Marigold, harshringar, tesu, chestnut, loquat etc.
They are creating some amazing stuff in their studio there! Be sure to check it out incase in Dehradun. 😊

Taking you back my memory lane today and the foundation to my love for an age-old craft of India.. 🤩🌼
My fondest childhood memories are of my second home I had a long time ago, my boarding school in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
All would have infinite memories attached to our school.
We had female helpers who we called ‘Baijis’ in school, they helped us make our beds, cleaned our dormitories, washrooms, ironed our clothes and daily stood on our heads early morning to make sure we woke up for early PT! 🤢
That’s where I got my fascination for block prints, all our Baijis wore colourful Poshaks with various block prints. I eventually continued my research on after my post graduation and I’ve come to simply love the art! 😍
You’ll see my own creations of block prints in my range of oversized shirts and kurtas I’ve shared in my posts and highlights 😊
