Bold stillness inspired by personal emotion. Rooted in tactile material, a silence that speaks.

This is a Fayakun Kora piece for you. It is not an object, or a garment. It is a feeling made visible. And embodied.

Aesthetic as a medium for connection, texture for invoking memory. Tranquility as a necessity.
This is how Fayakun embodies life.

Thank you for capturing the stillness of our piece and the warmth of our browns :)

I have always been drawn to Indigo, the deep ultra marine like blue that was probably one of the most sought after natural dye traded on the ancient Silk Route.

We do our indigo dyeing in Kutch, in big maats, terracotta pots buried in womb of the earth. The salt desert of western India, is rich with families who have been practicing the craft for generations.
Zubeir ji is one such craftsman I met 12 years ago and has been a treasured partner and friend alike. These relationships that have been built over years are one of the deepest motivations to keep doing what I do. Filling my life with beauty and meaning. And some wanderlust :)

Indigo comes from the Greek Indikon - Blue dye from India.

What impact do our fabric choices as a fashion business make?
Does it reflect a sense of respect for our roots? Does it seek to honour our relationships with communities and nature alike? Or is it frivolously focussed on the short lived, insta friendly choices, looking at our bodies as objects to be adorned in fast fashion instead of a living breathing human.

At Fayakun, we seek to create or rather re-create a culture around clothing where it is not a hyper-disposable item but something thoughtful that embodies our experience of life.
A culture in which what we buy is loved and valued more.

Because if you saw the entire creation journey of each piece and knew of every single life it touched, you would value it more. Dispose clothing less, buy less and buy slow.
