Vishwam
Vishwam Creations is all about exclusive Sarees and accessories. Vishwam : original meaning - “Vastness” , “that which is expansive” and “full of bliss” . Vishwam was born out of a passion for sarees and especially handwoven sarees from across India. Vishwam is a tribute to the age-old heritage of expression through fabrics, colors, designs and patterns. Vishwam is a contemporary take on traditional and timeless techniques in weaving, dyes, embroidery and printing. Saree is now relegated to an "ethnic" wear and we see women dread wearing a saree .. We want to give the saree its rightful place in the modern Indian woman's wardrobe. There is hope . There is a large pool of women for whom saree is an everyday wear – for work, social events and festivities. We are mesmerized and hopeful to see a mother buying the first saree for her daughter’s high school farewell or that big college event she is the MC for. We hope to kindle and sustain the young one's love for saree as she grows into a confident new-age woman, proud of her roots and has a responsible fashion sense; We aspire to be part of the saree journey of this globe-trotting Indian woman – 6 yards at a time ! What is on offer in Vishwam? Vishwam aims to bring a piece of India to the wardrobe of Indian women – where an Odisha Bomkai jostles for attention with a Chettinad KandAngi , A maggam work from Andhra adorns a Kanchivaram silk , a cherished Sambapuril saree stand side to side with a Kasuti embroidered saree from Karnataka. Currently designs and weaves from Tamilnadu takes centerstage in our repertoire . Kanchi cottons : City of 1000 temples, glorious culture and ofcourse the silks in addition to lip-smacking Kanchipuram idlis ! In the mix is Kanchi's famous handloom cottons. Influence of the silk saree designs is dominant in the cottons as you can see. Enjoy the mystery that is Kanchi in our colorful Kanchi cottons . Chettinad : Palatial family homes, mouth watering cuisine , an era of grandeur and grace .. Not to forget those crisp elegant handloom sarees with earthy bright colors and forgotten motifs.. Vishwam brings the best of Chettinad sarees for you. Go ahead , be charmed! Bhavani silks and silk cotton blends : (pronounced "Bhavaani") - the benevolent river of the Coimbatore region from where our weavers lovingly put together a treasure for us. This collection is a set of Silk Cotton sarees - a perfect mix of silk warp and cotton weft.. each complementing one another.. giving the saree the strength, the sheen and the diversity! Just like the River Bhavani - River Bhavani is as multi-faceted as you can imagine.. Her headwaters originate from Malappuram in Kerala .. She receives her tributaries in Tamil Nadu and nurtures the lands there .. She joins Kaveri as a her major tributary and continues to flow into Karnataka.. Blends in , but holds on her own at the same time ! No wonder we named our collection "Bhavani - a silken blend".. Madurai sungudis : Strands of jasmine flowers spreading their wafting fragrance.. Imposing temple towers (5 of 'em!) that you can bet will come into sight unexpectedly when you turn a corner , amazing street food for the hunger pangs at night .. Madurai weaves its magic on you in no time! Madurai sungudi and Tie-and-dyes are the unsung heroes. There is nothing more enthralling than the drama the colors decide to play on their own .. The tie-and-dye are our own answer to the Shibhori .. Sungudis are the southern version of the Bandhani from Gujarat and Rajasthan.. It is truly intriguing to see art forms and textile techniques that have travelled the length and breadth of India. Madurai sarees come in variety of bright monochrome colors and with the trademark single-dot tie-and-dye patterns.. Reflects the simplicity of the region that is Madurai in Tamil Nadu.. Our promise of quality : “Team Vishwam” is made of artisans and weavers across India and present a delightful confluence of various elements and techniques. Each Vishwam saree is a testimony to the skill of the weaver and Vishwam’s keen eye for quality while we curate our collection
