Bakhiyaa is an exclusive ensemble of Lucknowi chikankaari and intricate threadworks spawned by the dexterous hands of kaarigars from the City of Nawabs and woven into clothing for women, men and children. Bakhiyaa delivers you the joy of delicate handwork on a palette of colourful fabrics. Deepika Murthy, a biotechnologist by qualification but an aesthete from heart, who had grown up amidst the ri

ch culture and magnificence of Lucknow, this venture impassions her appetite for propagating indigenous Lucknavi art. Bakhiyaa is her sincere attempt to converge this traditional craft into the expanses of Bangalore and help artisans circulate their skills across borders. Bakhiyaa meaning ‘stitch’, is also a name of one of the 36 stitches of chikankaari rendering shadow work from the reverse side of the fabric. While 19 out of these 36 have perished into oblivion, Deepika endevours to keep the remaining 17 living through her assortment and collection of ethnic trousseau. Deepika welcomes you to experience the exquisite maneuvers of Bakhiyaa-the stitches of Lucknow.
