Good afternoon and a warm welcome to all my dear well-wishers.
It has been a while that Puvi had not put up any collection on display.
Puvi is also one of the most badly hit creation house in the pandemic. Of course creative journey still continues through my online classes and various work shops. Lot of ups and downs and life saw a roller coaster in a short period of time. When we got to spend time together at home with our dear and loved ones we also lost few of our relatives. Most of the consultancy firms were left with no projects and individual business men were affected we also were victims to it.
As world can not come to a halt and good times have to start, I had a call last week and an order was placed for silk cotton sarees.
I jumped with joy and immediately called my weaver to share it with him. His voice was down and he spoke with heaviness.
Like any industry, it has left the handloom industry hamstrung and in shambles. The weavers working for him were forced to take up odd jobs as vegetable vendors and cleaning to make ends meet. Since people aren’t going out, weddings or any such events weren't taking place orders rapidly came down and only few looms were on run.
He told me that the business was too dull and he hardly stepped out of the house. His brother was helping him with his chores of work. Dispite of all his hardships he has managed to creat a good collection of sarees and shared the picks to me. Which I will be posting shortly.
This is the situation of my weavers while I have to gather my courage to speak to my block printers.
At this stage I have halted my designer hand block printed sarees and now focusing on helping my weavers to come back to their usual charm.
All these have led to a slight drift in the cost of the sarees and I think it is genuine and I have no words to argue with them.
