This is to update everyone who has been following Somnath's convalescing journey from being deemed refractory to conventional medical treatment due to absolute Visual Impairment & Global Developmental Delay as a result of complex Eye & brain conditions.

Ultimately the efforts paid off...Somnath has achieved independent ambulation 😊

Our treatment & efforts will continue. Still, we seek everyone's blessings for this kid & a genuine prayer for his quick & total visual, developmental & behavioral recovery. This kid is a determined fighter & definitely deserves to be loved🙏🏻 🙏🏻

Now Nisha can identify the parts of her body. She can perform visually guided independent ambulation. She has started understanding & responding by performing basic tasks on command.

She has started identifying 'A' & 'B' too.

আপনার বাড়ির বাচ্চাটির দৃষ্টি ও মানসিক বিকাশ স্বাভাবিক তো??

বাচ্চার মাথার পিছন থেকে ঘাড় পর্যন্ত ব্যথা? ভুঁরু কুঁচকে দেখে? পড়াশোনায় ভাল ফল আসছে না? 'b' কে 'd' লিখছে বা 'p', 't', 'y' উল্টো লিখছে? খেলাধুলায় খারাপ? ট্যারা চোখ? মনযোগ নেই? অত্যধিক রাগ? বন্ধু কম বা কারো সাথে মিশতে পারে না? সহজে কথা বুঝতে পারে না? মাঝেমধ্যেই একটা চোখ ঢেকে রাখে বা চোখে আঙুল দিয়ে চাপ দেয়? ব্যালেন্সের অভাব/ ঘন ঘন পরে যায় বা ধাক্কা লাগে বা হোঁচট খায়? অকারণে অত্যধিক কান্না? অন্য বাচ্চাদের থেকে পিছিয়ে পড়ছে? কথায় ও কাজে বড্ড বোকা বলে মনে হচ্ছে? একটি বিশেষ রঙের খেলনা নিয়েই সারাদিন খেলে? লোকজন বা জিনিস পত্র চিনতে সমস্যা? চোখের দিকে তাকিয়ে কথা বলে না? কোনো স্থির বা চলমান বস্তুর দিকে আঙুল দিয়ে দেখায় না? গুছিয়ে কথা বলতে পারে না?

কম-বেশি সব বাচ্চার ক্ষেত্রেই এইসব অল্প বিস্তর হয়ে থাকে, তাই না?

জেনে রাখুন, এই সব ঘটনা স্বাভাবিক ও সাধারণ না-ও হতে পারে!!

ভারতবর্ষে 2 বছর থেকে 9 বছর বয়সের বাচ্চাদের ক্ষেত্রে 'আটটি বাচ্চার মধ্যে একটি বাচ্চার' Neurodevelopmental Disorder থাকতে পারে এবং তার মধ্যে প্রায় 84% বাচ্চার দৃষ্টি সংক্রান্ত সমস্যা থাকতে পারে, যার মধ্যে 33% ব্রেণ সংক্রান্ত দেখার সমস্যা।

জন-সচেতনার অভাবে এদের অধিকাংশই ধরা পরে না, কারন কোনো বিশেষ অসুবিধা না হলে সাধারণত বাচ্চাদের অপ্টমেট্রিস্ট বা নিউরোলজিস্ট দ্বারা পরীক্ষা করানো হয় না।

এবং তাই বাচ্চাদের অন্ধত্বের ক্ষেত্রে ভারত পৃথিবীর এক নম্বর স্থান অধিকার করে আছে বহুদিন ধরে এবং বাচ্চাদের নিউরো-ডেভেলপমেন্টাল সমস্যার ক্ষেত্রেও ভারত প্রথম সারিতে।

একজন Paediatric Optometrist, Optometric management ও Vision Therapy'র দ্বারা অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই এর সমাধান করতে পারেন। পাশাপাশি Pediatric Neurologist-এর উপদেশ-ও খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

তাই বাড়িতে বাচ্চা থাকলে কোনো সমস্যা নেই মনে হলেও অবশ্যই অন্তত একজন Pediatric Optometrist কে দিয়ে পরীক্ষা করিয়ে নিন।

This 2 years old girl was diagnosed with a retinal disease at birth, that made her Totally blind...he couldn't even perceive light.

Vision Therapy at our clinic has now given her enough vision to carry out independent movement.

We wish her nothing but the best 😇😇
