Reintroducing Ganjam Bomkai, a revival we’ve been quietly and passionately working on over the last two months at Padmanabhapur, Ganjam.
Rooted in tradition, yet gently reimagined, this weave carries the soul of Ganjam while exploring thoughtful design interventions.

We’ve introduced a distinctive fish dobby border, paired with the timeless elegance of the Ganga–Yamuna border, creating a dialogue between contrast and continuity. Returning to the charm of the traditional short aanchal, while also experimenting with the richness of a double pallu, this collection honours the past while opening new design possibilities.

A special focus has been on evolving the Phoda Kumbha from Mahambati (candle) Kumbha to Kata/Katuri Kumbha, reinterpreted in fresh, contemporary colour stories.

This is not just a Recreation.
It is a mindful revival, where heritage meets design and every weave becomes a bridge between what was and what can be.

A contemporary take on the timeless Sonepuri weave.
Subtle linear textures on a beautiful Ice Cobalt Blue canvas, brought alive with a bold red and zari pallu, where tradition meets a quieter, more refined expression.
Crafted for those who appreciate understated elegance.

Reimagining Khandua through mindful innovation, where nothing goes to waste and every thread finds new meaning.

This weave is crafted using leftover bandha (ikaat), thoughtfully brought together to create a distinctive and contemporary expression. What was once fragmented now comes alive as a unique design, celebrating both sustainability and craftsmanship. 🧿

An exploration of tradition, reworked with intention, giving Khandua a fresh, unexpected identity while staying true to its roots. ✨

Reviving the soul of Khandua, where every thread carries a story of tradition, and every motif echoes timeless craftsmanship.
Traditionally known for its intricate ikat patterns, Khandua has always been deeply rooted in heritage. This contemporary interpretation takes a quieter, more versatile approach, designed for today’s lifestyle.

While the old weaves celebrated detailed motifs, these new explorations embrace simplicity, making them lighter, more adaptable and effortlessly wearable.
Rooted in Tradition, Reimagined for Today 🥰

From the quiet looms of Nuapatna… emerges a story reimagined.

A contemporary take on the Dongria weave, where tradition doesn’t stay still, it evolves. Woven in mulberry silk, the jala aanchal comes alive through intricate extra weft weaving… each thread carrying rhythm, movement and a play of colours that feels almost poetic.
And as your eyes travel through the body, you’ll find our signature fish and turtle butti, the symbols of continuity, flow, and life that are subtly placed, yet deeply rooted in our design language.

This is not just a saree.
It’s a conversation between heritage and imagination.
Between what was… and what it can become. 🥰🧿

Visit to ITI Bhubaneswar – Dress Making Trade

Had the opportunity to visit ITI Bhubaneswar yesterday as an External Examiner to evaluate the students’ annual project work for the Dress Making Trade.

This year’s concept was truly remarkable, a beautifully crafted lehenga created using fabrics sourced from 30 districts of Odisha, bringing together 26 different textile traditions, patterns, stitching techniques and hand embroidery styles into one cohesive design with help of Nini Ma’am. The effort, detailing and understanding of craftsmanship reflected in the garment were commendable, especially as it was developed with the vision of a complete fashion show presentation.

What made the experience even more enriching was interacting with students from diverse age groups, from young learners who have just completed their 10th standard to a retired headmistress who chose to pursue this craft out of pure passion and the desire to stay creatively engaged.

It was heartening to witness such dedication, curiosity and respect for traditional textiles blended with contemporary learning. Moments like these reaffirm how skill development can empower individuals at every stage of life.

Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this inspiring journey. 🥰🙏🏻
