Currently based in Chennai, India, Vivek Karunakaran graduated from the National Institute Of Fashion Technology, Chennai, India with an award winning Diploma in Fashion Design in 2002. Starting his fashion career with Isex Fashions, Chennai as the Creative Head – he has put together collections for various American & European labels like Zara, Diesel, Facconable, Napapijri, Kenzo

and Brooksfield. In the Fall of 2006, Vivek Karunakaran debuted at Lakme Fashion Week 2007 with his A/W Collection – “Dark Romance”. He was one among the ‘Generation Next Designers’ identified by eminent personalities from the fashion fraternity at the Lakme Fashion Week, with a promising future. After showing at the Lakme Fashion week over the last many seasons, today the label, “vivek karunakaran” retails with some of the best high fashion stores across the country. He has dressed up celebrities and socialites like Sonam Kapoor, Lisa Ray, Amy Jackson, Vidya Balan, Yana Gupta, Sonakshi Sinha, Malini Agarwal, Tammanah, Nayantara, Mamta Mohanda, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Anil Kapoor, Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, A R Rahman, Nagarjuna, Ajith Kumar, Suriya, Chiyaan Vikram and Mohanlal to name a few.
