India will host the Asian Shooting Championship in December 2027, a key continental event that will offer eight Olympic quota places in rifle and pistol events. The quotas will be awarded through individual events.

This championship will be held towards the latter part of the Olympic qualification cycle, a phase by which most quota places are usually already decided. That makes the timing especially important. If India are short on quotas by then, this event could significantly boost their chances, especially with the advantage of competing at home.

India generally qualifies a strong number of shooters for the Olympics, and the equation is simple: more quota places increase the probability of medals.
