ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Prakash Vaithyanathan has been teaching Math and Science subjects for the past 26 years for all the world curriculum including the British GCSE, GCE A levels after completing post graduation studies from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Currently, he teaches many students from reputed grammar schools across the United Kingdom. A prolific creative thinker, inventor and researcher, he has worked on various scientific, educational and social projects since 2007 to make our world a better place and inspire his students. Most of his work has been focused on environmental awareness and cancer related interventions. He is named as first inventor in many patent applications and authored few peer-reviewed articles in various scientific journals. He has worked extensively on Curcumin and Tetrahydrocurcumin and invented highly effective formulations that may be useful for skin/breast cancer, pain, skin disorders and COVID-19. He has recently found some simple methods that can be adopted to tackle COVID menace such as using used coffee grounds and a Tetrahydrocurcumin based gel formulation that can be applied on our skin to act as a shield against SARS-COV-2 virus. He has been recognized by International Astronomical Union (IAU) for naming an asteroid as “`Akikiki”, a critically endangered Hawaiian honeycreeper, on the occasion of the 2015 IAU General Assembly in order to bring about an awareness of the impact of climate change on wildlife and has been featured by the prestigious ‘Audubon’ magazine and the US Consulate General Chennai, India. He was conferred with the ‘International Green Apple Award’ for the year 2009 at the House of Commons, UK for his work on water conservation in trains. He invented the ‘Breathing Pillow’ in 2007 inspired by a baby sleeping on the mother’s lap. As a teacher, he always wishes that every student becomes an inventor in their own right
