Neelakshi and Oiendrila Ray, the “Nee” and “Oink” sisters of the eponymous brand, started Nee and Oink initially out of a desire to fill a market void for children’s fashion they discovered while shopping for their own kids. Having been trained at the renowned Parsons School of Design (NYC/Paris) and Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication (London), the sisters used their training and int
ernal compass for fashion to develop something fresh and novel for the market, bringing forth lines of trendy yet comfortable clothes that somehow managed to capture the magic of childhood. The clothes have been remarkably well-received critically by the media, and also by customers who have continued to support the line, season by season. Thematically, the designs maintain the fun and frivolity of being a child, while being grounded in the sisters’ own interpretations of current trends. Borne of client testimonials and from initial one-off custom orders for adult versions of their designs, which over the seasons became a more expansive business of couture orders, Nee and Oink has evolved, developing a line of clothes for adults. The designer sisters continue to innovate and create designs based on their views of the latest trends in global fashion, as well as Nee and Oink’s own spin on things to come.
