Going back to Bengal is like going back to the roots... Looms where weaves do not just carry patterns - they carry time - unhurried completely devoted time and patience... That's how such beautiful jamdanis are created... Skill patience and lots of time to each saree so that they turn out this gorgeous!

What would be your one word for the weaver who created this gorgeous beauty?

I remember touching this fabric for the first time in Mangalgiri…
and pausing.
It didn’t behave like cotton.
It didn’t feel like silk either.
It was lighter… softer… almost fluid.
When I was told it’s silk cotton Mangalgiri in digital prints , handwoven by the weavers there—
even I had to take a moment to believe it.
Because we’ve been conditioned to associate feel with finish…
and purity with something heavier, stiffer, more obvious.
But true craftsmanship is often quieter than that.
These Mangalgiri silk cotton sarees are handwoven,
then digitally printed—
creating a fabric that surprises you… and then stays with you.
At Shalmali, this is what we seek—
not just how something looks,
but what it truly is.
Pure. Thoughtful. Handcrafted.

Would you have guessed it’s silk cotton?
