It is a bespoke platform for handloom and handicraft of Northeast India and supports migrant women weavers in their residential centre,to work with dignity,on their looms. A Mekhela Sador in Mulberry Silk and Kesa Pat, evocative of an old-world Assam, where silk was treasured, handloom was a way of life, and every motif carried a whisper of heritage.

A message to JW PEI: Acknowledge the Saree. JW PEI

Your recent designs closely replicate the visual language and drape of the Indian saree—a centuries-old cultural and textile tradition.

We are not asking you to stop innovating. We are asking for respect and attribution.

Either withdraw the designs, or acknowledge clearly and publicly that the inspiration comes from the Indian saree and its rich cultural heritage.

When a global brand commercialises a traditional cultural form, it should not erase the culture that created it.

The saree is not a new fashion discovery. It is India’s living heritage.
