Shilpa Reddy to showcase her spring 2015 line ‘floral goemetry’ in New York on a floating catwalk

After showcasing her Autumn 2014 line on Eiffel Tower last year, Shilpa Reddy is gearing up to head to New York this March. She will be representing the country on March 19 on Hudson’s river floating catwalk, conceptualised by Jessica Minh Anh. Jessica is known to design unconventional catwalks. Her idea is to transform Hudson River’s giant glass boat into a 100-metre floating runway, with guests seated facing the glass window and watching models use the river as their runway. New York’s skyline and its architectural masterpieces like the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty will form the backdrop for the catwalk.
Shilpa’s Reddy will unveil her spring 2015 line ‘Floral geometry’ inspired by the geometry of the Pochampally ikat weave. At the other end of the spectrum, the show will also have a representation of Indonesia’s batik with a heritage-inspired collection.
The other participating designers include Ukraine’s Lesya Lozneva who will be showcasing airy dresses and bodysuits using silk, organza, soft wool and cotton; New Zealand’s Frances Jerard, Pakistani designer Syeda Amera, Romanian haute couture brand Sabres, and the Japanese designer Yumi Katsura.
In the accessories segment, Italian brand Gianfranco Lotti will showcase 25 leather designs, Colombian-German jeweller Sonia Heilbron will unveil an abstract handmade collection that incorporates Swarovski crystals and American designer Ivanka Trump will present a contemporary jewellery line.
