GST on clothing in India priced above ₹2,500 has increased from 12% to 18% GST.
For large fashion brands, this is just another adjustment in their pricing. But for slow fashion brands in India like Erised, it changes everything.
That 6% hike may look small on paper, but it directly impacts sustainable fashion, ethical clothing, and handcrafted apparel. It pushes conscious fashion further out of reach for many buyers, while small businesses like ours struggle with thinner margins.
We call it the ₹2,500 GST wall, a line that decides whether something is taxed at 5% or 18%. For us, it is more than numbers. It is survival, values, and the future of sustainable fashion in India.
