My favourite creation so far this year — I’m completely obsessed.

For the longest time, I’ve wanted to create pieces that feel like prints, but in a way that stays true to my practice. As much as I admire screen printing and block printing, they’ve never felt like my craft. I’ve always been clear about working only with natural dyes, and that meant finding another path.

Appliqué became that path — the only way I could bring these visions to life in a way that felt honest, detailed, and truly mine. And I love it.

This piece holds something deeply personal. It began with a set of table mats we’ve had at home for years — something my mother picked up during her travels. I first tried turning them into a vest, which didn’t quite work out. But sometimes things take their own time… and eventually, they found their true form as this shirt.

And I think I love it even more because of that journey. 🤍

Hi, I’m Heena — one half of HeenaAgrima ♡
It’s been 6 years into building this dream — and here’s what I’ve really been up to —

I love materials. Like really love them.
Give me one fabric and I’ll find 20 ways to fall in love with it again.
Right now, it’s organza — we’re in a long-term, very committed relationship ✨

Somewhere along the way, that love led me to plant dyes… because i loved how they showed up on organza and now I’m deeply, obsessively rooted in them 🌿

Most people think I’m a textile designer —
but I’m actually a fashion designer who uses textiles as my way of making art.

Because that’s what I always wanted to be — an artist.

Growing up, that word came with fear.
“Is it stable?” “Will you make it?”
Questions no one asks an engineer or a doctor.

I’m neurodivergent, and I always struggled with learning the “normal” way.
Art was the only place my brain felt… at ease.
It didn’t try to fix me — it understood me.

For the first 3 years, HeenaAgrima was just a dream that Agrima (my best friend & partner) and I quietly built.
And the next 3… we’ve been living it.

I didn’t choose art to escape.
I chose it to fight back — softly.

My grandmother once told me:
“There is so much pain in the world because there is no beauty.”

So this is me, choosing to create beauty.
With patience. With care. With intention.

All these explorations, experiments, little dumps —
they’re not just work.
They’re reminders.

That YOU can choose art too.
That creating is also a way of healing AND fighting back with the cruelty of systems
And maybe… a way of changing the world, gently ♡

Indian artisans are truly exceptional. It took traveling across the world for me to fully realize the depth of talent we have here. They are incredibly versatile, warm, and grounded — never carrying ego about the range of what they can create.

Today, I simply want to appreciate them — for all the skill, effort, and heart they put into their work, asking for nothing more than respect, fair pay, and genuine appreciation in return. I love youuu Indian artists, im so proud that i get to be called as an Indian artist as wel 🥹❤️🧿🥰
