Kiran Social Enterprises serves as a vocational training and employment centre for women from marginalised slum and rural communities in and around Kolkata, India. Our mission is to empower these women by providing training in jewellery making using reclaimed materials, as well as creating natural cotton and jute-based fashion products. This initiative enables them to acquire new skills and become artisans in their own right.
We ensure that our artisans receive compensation above the fair trade minimum rates and have access to medical assistance. Additionally, Kiran encourages participation in Self Help Groups (SHGs), which are savings collectives where members contribute monthly to create a pool of funds for lending to one another as needs arise.
