Some memories do not arrive whole. They return in pieces; through old photographs, the rustle of a saree, a room left exactly as it was.

Hamare Ghar Ke Ladki traces the women who shaped a home quietly and completely. Their presence lingers in familiar motifs, inherited colours, and textiles that carry more than ornament; they carry habit, memory, and affection.

Drawn from our founder ’s personal archive, the collection moves through generations of women remembered not through grand narratives, but through everyday moments that stayed behind.

There is something endlessly compelling about the world Cecil Beaton created; where fashion was never simply about clothing, but about atmosphere, performance, and illusion. His photographs turned portraits into theatre: mirrored rooms, dramatic shadows, couture, flowers, silk, and carefully composed gestures all becoming part of the image. Working through the 1930s and post-war decades, Beaton captured a moment when fashion was deeply tied to glamour, cinema, aristocracy, and fantasy.

What makes his work endure is how unapologetically decorative it was. He understood that style extended far beyond garments — into interiors, posture, mood, and persona. Looking at Beaton’s photographs now feels like stepping into a slower and more composed world, where fashion carried a sense of occasion and beauty was allowed to be romantic, excessive, and dreamlike.

The Sharmila saree; a delicate expression of memory, and flowers in bloom.

The most glamorous printed chiffon that feels deeply personal, this saree carries the spirit of someone we hold very close to our hearts. Worn by our dear aunt, Sharmila Tagore, with her quiet poise and unmistakable presence, it felt only natural to name the piece after her.

Mother’s Day has always felt different to me, because life gave me not one mother, but three.

My Bua, my Kakisab, and my mother — three women who, in their own ways, became the hands that held me whenever life felt uncertain. They nurtured not only me, but also my dreams, my passions, my stubborn ambitions, and every fragile idea that eventually became a part of who I am today.

Behind every step I have taken stands their quiet strength — in prayers whispered for me, in sacrifices never spoken of, in encouragement offered even during moments when I doubted myself. They became a wall so strong around me that I never truly understood fear.

If there is grace in my journey, it belongs to them.
If there is courage in me, it was first planted by them.

And perhaps that is the greatest blessing a person can receive in life — to be loved and raised by women who make the world feel softer, safer, and infinitely kinder.

Anna Kashfi; born in Darjeeling, briefly of Hollywood, and often spoken about in the same breath as Marlon Brando.

A life that never quite settled, except in India; at the ashram of Bala Sati Mata, where she once came with my grandmother in the 1970s.

Complicated, unapologetic, a presence you couldn’t ignore. A diva, in every sense.

Chitralekha ~

“A memory carried forward. Inspired by a lehnga once worn by my Bua, Renuka, as a child; crafted then from a cut-up saree, now lost to time but not to us.”

Reimagined as a traditional 36 kali lehnga in handwoven tissue, detailed with our zardozi Tudor Roses border and motifs. Paired with a pachranga tissue odhni and choli.

Jivajirao Scindia and Vijayaraje Scindia during their विवाह ceremony, 21 February 1941.

Captured within the formal cadence of the ritual, the couple stand on low ceremonial platforms, attended by members of the court and family.

The Maharaja appears in a richly embellished sherwani with a traditional safa and layered necklaces, marking courtly dress of the period. The Maharani is draped in a Maratha Shalu woven in Benaras, paired with a nauvari tissue, her head covered in accordance with custom. The textile’s structure and fall lend a sculptural quality to the form.

Together, the garments reflect a confluence of regional textile traditions and ceremonial dress practices of the time.
