Smt Rathnashree Ray spoke at the National Conference on Architectural and Cultural Cornerstones, which took place on 5th and 6th April 2024 in Hyderabad. Her session, “Drawing Inspiration from Hampi and Anegundi Architecture for Palace Elevation,” was incredibly insightful. The concept of using sculptures as motifs on textiles and incorporating the Purandara Dasara Aradane as a music festival is a beautiful combination of tangible and intangible forms from the Vijayanagara Empire. It was a highly motivating and informative session for all students. We look forward to more enlightening talks like this at the conference!

The Karnataka Handloom Technology Institute (KHTI) was established in 1994 as a state sector initiative under the Department of Handloom & Textiles. It is the only institute in Karnataka that offers a Diploma course in Handloom and Textile Technology. The curriculum of the course is based on that of the prestigious Indian Institute of Handloom Technology. In line with this, the final year students of 2021 were given the opportunity to visit the 19th Generation of the Sree Krishna Devaraya Dynasty place, a remarkable palace that preserves and celebrates India’s rich cultural heritage. The students were eager to learn and experience the royal family’s textiles and the revival of Devaraya Heritage Weaves sarees. They were accompanied by Smt. Rathnashree Raya, the Founder of Devaraya Heritage Weaves, who gave them a professional tour and shared her knowledge on the textiles and sarees.

Vijayanagara Utsav at Heere Deewan, Anegundi! The launch of Devaraya Heritage Weaves was a rare treat, showcasing textiles from the queens’ wardrobes. The revival sarees for the brides were true masterpieces, adored by all our guests and visitors. Our heartfelt thanks to our hardworking team, dedicated weavers and artisans who have been with us for the past year, making this Utsav a grand success.
