Chumthang Crafts is an attempt to introduce the colorful and intricate hand arts and crafts of North East India to Bangalore and other part of the globe. The seven sister states of the North East India - Assam, Arunachal, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura - have a long tradition of textile, wood, cane and other crafts of the finest quality. Our aim is to ensure the preservation and

sustainability of these traditional arts, some of which are slowly being lost, by connecting the artisans with a discerning clientele. When you buy an item at Chumthang Crafts, you support craftspeople, especially women, who depend on their skills for their livelihood. We are committed to ethical sourcing and we work with self - help groups, reputed non - governmental organisations and artisan associations to source our products.

A very useful grass - Bamboo and Waa we called in Manipuri. The word Bamboo comes from the Malay word Mambu. The Dutch named it Bamboo after it's Neo - Latin name Bambusa.
